    Bug Report for 4.7.3.0:

Changing the maximum size of the security log to 200MB makes the Connection Log crash when trying to load the entries.

    Windows Firewall Control v.4.7.4.0

    Change log:
    - Improved: The system tray application (wfc.exe) is now able to force the service (wfcs.exe) to reinitialize itself if the service encountered a problem during the start-up and was not initialized correctly. This will reduce the cases when the WFC tray icon displays the black icon stating that it cannot connect to the service.
    - Improved: Added smooth transition of the progress bar in the installation dialog.
    - Fixed: The status of the system tray icon is not updated if the service is manually stopped or restarted.
    - Fixed: Opened Connections Log is not automatically closed when the program is locked with a password.
    - Fixed: Invalid coordinates saved in Windows Registry can lead to inability to reopen some dialogs. Observed for the "Customize and create" dialog from Connections Log.

Please, add a command line switch to open the Connection Log (like there is one to open the rules window).

I will take a look at this.
The following command line parameters can be used to launch the file wfc.exe. They work even if the program is already running.
-mp = open the Main Panel. For this you can also define a global hotkey from the Options tab.
-rp = open the Rules Panel. Also available with a global hotkey from the Options tab.
-cp = open the Connections Log. Also available with a global hotkey from the Options tab.
-uninstall = launch the uninstaller. This works only if the program is not locked with a password.

Sort-Bug [v4.7.2.0 (probably 4.7.3.0 too (not tested yet))]?

In Rules Panel I had selected Inbound, unfiltered with sort for the Edge column. Then I switched to the outbound connections. After I closed the rules panel.

Then I had allowed a new outbound connection via Notification. Immediately after I opened the Rules Panel again to change something for this just created rule. I did not found the rule. Then I found out that highly probably the sort mode was not resetted and the Edge sorting was still active! So it seems there must be something wrong.

Could you check this please Alexandru?

PS: I know it's a bit difficult because I can't reproduce it TILL NOW ... nevertheless you should know this behaviour ...

PPS: Thank you very much for update!

    I will investigate this.
This is not a bug. The last values of these two combo boxes are saved when the Rules Panel is closed.

Then you have created an outbound rule, but when you reopened Rules Panel, it displayed inbound rules. The rule is there but you have to change the Display combo box to display outbound rules too. It has nothing to do with the columns sort which is always reset when the Rules Panel is opened.

Sure, I know that behaviour - just it was another case ...

I had switched to outbound rule before - as I had wrote (see in my posting above) ... so I had definitely displayed the outbound rules already (I had checked this extra at this point).

It was definitely an incorrect view - because another explanation is not possible after I OPENED THE OUTBOUND VIEW RIGHT AFTER THE NEW RULE AND WITHOUT ANY INITIATED SORTING!

Also important: I made a search and it displayed the entry! Would be not possible with inbound view!

I believe after I had even manually resetted the sorting WITHOUT success.

So it can be that the sort was "crashed".

What else could it be except an incorrect sorting (not resetted resp. still on the Edge sorting or crashed sorting function)?

I will have an eye on this and report further details to you, if I can ...

Okay, I guess I'm having a senior moment. Why can't I see my network? I have to set it to "No Filter" to see my network. o_O

Check the WFC log. If a rule has a problem while creating/modifying it, WFC will log an error.
Did you enable File and Printer sharing like explained below ?

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-vista/enable-file-and-printer-sharing

This will create a new set of Windows Firewall rules that will allow network sharing.

Ahem, I said I found the rule with search, just the sorting was not correct ... nevertheless I checked the log (because sorting error or so), NO errors.

    PS: Rest via E-Mail ...

    Greetings, Alexandru!

Despite accepting the UAC prompt, I receive the following error when attempting to install on Windows 10 64-bit:

"UAC elevation was cancelled by the user. Installation aborted.

I have tried installing from an admin and a user account, with the same result. I am attempting to update from version 4.6.2.4. Any help would be most appreciated.

    - New: Added a new provider for the SHA256 check. It is configurable from the Tools tab.
    - New: Added "Check file" functionality from Connections Log also in the Rules Panel toolbox and right click context menu.
    - Fixed: The last window position and size are not restored on reopen when a different DPI setting than the default value is used.
    - Fixed: Connections Log crashes if the Security log size is increased by the user and the processing data takes longer than 1 minute. Observed for a 200MB log size.

Switching Connections Log, say, from [Recently Blocked] + [Outbound], to [Recently Allowed] + [Inbound], is currently a two-step job, interfered after step one by a pointless refreshing of the window to show either [Recently Allowed] + [Outbound] or [Recently Blocked] + [Inbound] before step two can be taken.

Such labor can be avoided simply by integrating the two drop down boxes, namely [Connection] and [Direction], to provide four options: [Recently Allowed Inbound], [Recently Allowed Outbound], [Recently Blocked Inbound] and [Recently Blocked Outbound].

Indeed, those two combo boxes can be mixed into one single combo box with 4 values. However, I do not want to mix them. What I can do is to disable the automatic loading which is triggered when any of the combo boxes are changed. Then the user can modify them without triggering nothing and when all are set, hitting the Refresh button will start the data loading. Is anyone else interested to see this change ?

Or have 4 radio buttons for one-click convenience. Users always prefer fewer clicks.
