It hasn't received any program updates for two years (although it is claimed to Windows 10 compatible). The website says it was last updated on April the 1st of 2014. I downloaded the installer and it has the same date.

I guess (hope) they've tested it on Windows 10 and didn't find any problems.

I ran Twister as my main antivirus for a couple of years -- back when it had a fairly large following here at Wilders. I liked it a lot. As of now I don't run any antivirus at all.

I found Twister 8 used a ton of cpu compared to the ultralight version 7, so I stopped using it shortly after release.

Thanks for that info. You saved me some testing time.

This was from trying it several years ago. It is posible the program has been fixed since them. But if the last update was 2014, then probably not.

I tested it on Windows 10 64 bit 2 months back. It still is very heavy and the updates are slow. It's sad because the detection/HIPS/Heuristics is still pretty good.
@bellgamin v7 (32 bit only) is still supported and is still pretty good. Website says that it is supported on Windows 8. Don't know if that works on Windows 10 32 bit.

@ sg09 -- 10Q! Me running WinXP on 1998-vintage computer with great aplomb. No AV at all.

I might use a really really light AV for on-demand/right-click/context scans ONLY, but Twister sounds like *NOT a candidate*. For me, a patrolling AV is a solution to THAT problem -- but I do not have THAT problem. :isay:

    So,

I was really excited about this one - it "seemed" to have a lot of cool features for the time (and still does) but now the cloud passes any malware I throw at it, development besides malware updates, seems to have grind to a halt, and the false positives are HUGE.

Is this product dead and should we just give up on it? Last time I tested it - it did a great job with it's process, file, and registry traps, removal and roll back, virtual machine approach to testing - now it seems stuck, seemingly forever.
