Looks like Invincea has completely revised its endpoint protection series. Too bad you don't get a clue as to what it looks like now. The website has been redone and the new product is called X by Invincea. At the first glance it seems like a shift away from virtualization, at least as far as the corporate clients are concerned. https://www.invincea.com/solution-overview/
"X" Is very much Enterprise focused. It's an entirely new game changer. It uses machine learning, neural networks and DARPA-driven technology. The isolation aspect is still there. It isn't "virtualization" per se, but given the word "container" and how some Enterprise customers look at it from the failings by other companies, we're focused on our technology we've created and proven on top of our industry leading isolation. As you can see from the Independent testing results, "... AV-TEST, an independent organization that evaluates and rates antivirus and security suite software, recently completed a private test of X by Invincea. X by Invincea outperformed other endpoint protection products, ranking higher than Cylance and SentinelOne, who were evaluated in prior tests using the same methodology. "In a recent AV-TEST endpoint protection test, Invincea scored high marks for performance and protection," said Maik Morgenstern, CTO, AV-TEST. "For performance, Invincea had one of the best scores we have ever seen in our tests to date. And, for protection, Invincea blocked 100% of attacks from 64 malicious websites. No other signature-less endpoint protection product provided 100% detection and blocking for this category in previous tests." http://www.power-eng.com/marketwire...duct-rates-industry-best-for-performance.html
It would be really surprising if they moved away from this since this was one of their key technologies. But from what I read on the website, they seem to be more focused on marketing the behavior blocker. It's still using virtualization/redirecting I assume? But I think the new website should be improved, the old one had a bit of more info.
Yep, the new website is now typical of many of the End point sites. Lot of words put not much on use info. I think the idea is to encourage a phone call
Too much info also isn't good, I often see this on websites of IT companies, but there has to be a balance IMO. BTW, it seems like some reports are not available for download, and it's not clear why: https://www.invincea.com/2016/04/ov...incea-is-a-key-player-in-endpoint-protection/
Well have to agree with Peter. The website follows the typical script. We have the magic bullet. It uses buzzword technology. Here is a client testimonial and a test proving our claims. Buy or try our product.
It also looks like they have moved away from small businesses. In the past, there was the possibility to obtain endpoint protection for at least 5 seats or more on the website. Perhaps this segment will now be covered by Sandboxie again.
Hardware (CPU) based virtualization is emerging, Windows is offering AppContainer, so they might have thought application virtualization (for security) is a dying market.
Makes sense, since Sandboxie was a one man band operation, the cost of offering application virtualization would be low for the SOHO market, so that might have been the masterplan behind Sandboxie acquisition. It is their exit strategy to capatilize their customer base wanting to stay using virtualization.
Actually, I don't believe Invincea has stopped using application virtualization, but I think they want to put more emphasis on behavior blocking and less on the isolation part.
After reading this PDF, I'm starting to wonder if Invincea has indeed stopped using application virtualization? They only talk about the behavior blocker, that uses "deep learning". https://www.invincea.com/product-overview/x-by-invincea-product-overview
