What is your security setup these days?

Malware that infects firmware, BIOS, graphics, etc can bypass Shadow Defender. Shadow Defender does not virtualize firmware, so some low level bypass is possible.

Sandboxie is more secure...

I tried cyberfox, but better for me chrome that i have come back. I've made local account.
Now i think because i use only in home where i have router with NAT. Maybe it is paranoic use yet sandboxie with chrome ?

No. I haven't changed anything. Still AppGuard + Adguard + some OS tweaks.

I think AppGuard + Sandboxie is one of the best combos. Is it a bit paranoid\overkill - I think a little if you are already a safe user.

If the question is for me I can say that ESS and Emsisoft are both very smooth and run quiet on my PCs but I don't know which is better to protect me... The only way is to be infected, then I can say "OK this av is really not good"

Thanks I have second laptop very old and there Appguard + Adguard and I don't know to install sandboxie or leave like this. Now I turned off windows defender.

 

It depends on how you use it. If you do high-risk surfing\computing on it, then AppGuard + Sandboxie combo adds increased security.

If you use it for everyday computing, I really think AppGuard is sufficient.

It's your call, because Sandboxie resource consumption is essentially zero...

Windows 10 pro 64 bit I have installed there. It has 4 gh ram and ultra cost low procesor intel .

 

I don't think adding Sandboxie will negatively affect the system.

Me personally, I don't add Sandboxie. The only advantage that I have seen is that Sandboxie saves me from cleanup of browser webpage lock. However, that can most often be fixed by simply running CCleaner. If not, then you just have to search for the offending file in C:\ProgramData or C:\Users\User\AppData and delete it.

On low end system, I would use Webroot instead of Windows Defender -- but it depends upon how Windows Defender affects your system. If you see no impact, then I would keep it enabled.

For a long time I ran W10 with Defender disabled. However, I have i7 with lots of RAM -- so no problem for me.

You can try 14 day trial of Webroot. It cleanly uninstalls.

Windows Defender uses a lot of RAM. Webroot uses about 1 MB RAM.

I would evaluate your system for a while first before making any additional changes. You have good security at the moment.

- HIPS: Safe Verbose
- AutoSandbox in default mode (Block Malicious, Virtual Unrecognized)
- Most time FW and HIPS in "Do NOT show popup alerts, Block Requests", especially when I share my PC with other peoples.

Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit with additional shields for routine and sensitive apps.

Avira free
- disabled launcher through autostart
- automatic updates through scheduler

The setup feels light on my PC.

 

Comodo Firewall ( cruelsister's suggested settings)

Same setup on Win.7 and Win. 10 . approaching two years.

ByteFence is a rebrand of Reason Core Security with a different UI. Once my trial runs out in a few days, I'll still be able to use it to scan for malware, but won't be able to remove anything.

No on demand scanners.

Browser addon extensions - uBlock uMatrix

Uninstalled Hitmanpro Alert and Winantiransom not because they didn't perform well, they did - but because they caused browser crashes -Hitmanpro Alert, and they wouldn't configure to allow applications to run, and would block sometimes unknowingly- Winantiransom. And I figure Spyshelter and Appguard can protect as these do.

On demand scanners - Hitman Pro Malwarebytes

Just added malwarebytes anti exploit to test - not sure of the advanced settings - there are quite a few option boxes.
