    Thanks.

I wonder what was changed in it this time. More bug fixes maybe.

I've got the new version on two machines, and the imaging and native API restore worked fine.

My trial ends today. Considering buying it as a backup to Macrium (pun), but a little pricey at the exchange rate. But like to support development.

Your choice. I'm not a believer in backing up an imaging app that is working perfectly well.

A new version was posted today, 1.44.0.17348. It seems like enough of an increment to be some form of bug fix as opposed to just a trial version date reset.

A new version was posted today, 1.44.0.17383. While I don't know if it's some kind of compiler or similar issue, but the file size has more than doubled. If it's not something like that, perhaps there's some wonderful yet to be documented functionality.

Interesting. On the x64 version I got 7373 not 7383 and it's the same size as the version before it.

32 bit is indeed 874kb. Hmm

The reason for the larger size of snapshot.exe:

The current snapshot.exe is uncompressed because for some reason MS Defender with most recent definition doesn't like the compressed version.
This is not a problem for snapshot64.exe for unknown reasons, so the x64 version is still compressed like before.

Thanks for the explanation on that.

New versions have been posted today, 1.44.0.17401 (32 bit) and 1.44.0.17402 (64 bit). As the 32 bit version is back down to 401K in size, apparently the compressed file issue with MS Defender has been resolved.

Got it. Thanks again for the heads up :thumb:

I have to reinvest in some more portable backup storage :D

New versions have been posted - 1.44.0.17433 (32 bit) and 1.44.0.17432 (64 bit). Based on the short amount of time that has passed combined with small version increment, these may be bug fixes as opposed to trial period resets.

Ah yes. On the last version, when I did a restore, the restore was fine, but on the reboot it BSOD's at chkdsk. Bet this is a fix. Thanks for posting.

this fix is to address the "program crash upon launch disk imaging" bug in Windows CMD / DOS environment. I submitted the bug report and they released the fix. I have not yet tested the fix yet, but it should now work fine under CMD.

Glad they fixed that one, because the one I reported is still alive and well.

You could report it to them with logs if you wish. They usually fix bugs pretty quickly.

Not sure any logs will be generated. Even though it's a bsod, no dump files are generated as it's totally outside of windows.

Last time I've tried DS (a few years ago) it didn't support restoring bigger partitions onto smaller ones. For example, 30 GB partition (only 10 GB used) couldn't be restored onto 25 GB partition. Anything changed?

Anyone know small app like DS which has this feature?
