Taking a quick look at WRLog on a 32-bit machine, I see only Type 1 monitoring of Reflect since Support sent a message saying it was whitelisted. On a 64-bit machine, however, there is continued Type 8 logging.

Please clarify the role scanning plays. Is a scan required before the whitelisting takes effect?

Also, could you explain what effect marking a program 'Allow' should have on logging. Many of the programs I have Allowed still show log entries for Type 8 monitoring. Stuffing WRData with tracking of a defragger marked 'Allow' (for example) is not what I'd expect.

 

Yes it does and support should of told you to do a scan in the reply. Also if it's still not whitelisted after doing a scan reply back to them and say why aren't these whitelisted? Type 8 is High Monitoring with a more limited access with the system and Type 1 is very low Monitoring! Allowing it on your system just makes the program have more access but does not stop the Monitoring until it's marked [G] Good!

Here is a bit more info!

Actually a bit more on this. The PC count only stops after something is whitelisted. If a file is bad or unknown, the count will continue.

That clarifies things completely. I'm no longer confused.

EDIT: It is indeed interesting to observe in the light of this, as you and Layman did, how few of Webroot's worldwide users are currently using the latest version of Macrium Reflect (your post at top of page—Macrium Reflect reflect.exe still being monitored by Webroot until just before you wrote that post)

And a very nice version it is too: quiet, smooth, light and unobtrusive (and above all no sign of a virus here, there or anywhere...). As has been the case with pretty well all the versions since the outset of Prevx 3 (and, regarding any viruses, the deal ever since my first acquaintance with Prevx).

Question, have any of you experienced any false positives with WSA?

I ask, because there has been quite a few for me.

 

I've had quite a number of false positives but they have been fixed quickly after reporting them to support.

 

Were they webpage FPs?? I ask this because I have been surprised to very recently discover that the consumer version of WSA has still not yet adopted the new Webroot Filtering Driver, which has for some time been giving us Beta testers an extremely FP-free experience regarding website FPs.

In fact, the whole FP experience regarding WSA, which in the past was for me a bit of a thorn-in-the-flesh experience and naggingly so, feels now very much like a "past tense" experience .

 

I agree. May I ask what FP's you have seen if they are programs/apps?

Maybe 2 or 3 since the launch of WSA, but those were in the early days of WSA. Can't remember when the last FP I had. I know it's been a l-o-n-g time ago, maybe 2 or so years ago.

 

That may well be so for you, ProTruckDriver, but it wasn't so for me and isn't for the two people who posted above (continuing problem apparently for some non-beta WSA users who are yet to benefit from the greatly improved web filtering driver) which is why TripleHelix posted his question for clarification as to whether their FPs were webpage warnings alone or also for app files.

 

On one of my Win 7 computers I've been running WSA beta (Non beta keycode). I believe the non beta keycode doesn't have the improved web filtering driver, @Triple Helix can correct me if I'm wrong. But I still haven't had any FP's in a very long time. Maybe I haven't hit the right websites for a FP or I'm lucky, I don't know. I just can report what I see on my computer.
