anyone else notice this? lately it seems firefox is just sluggish and uses a ton of ram more then it used to. it just feels like its getting heavy of late. just curios to know what you think?

i have tried a fresh install on both current systems and a fresh windows install and still it just seems this way. i also removed all extra add ons and same result. i hear this a lot lately from clients as well.

    I notice this as well

I now knocked it down as a secondary browser, rather than my primary one.

This with other reasons was why i went over to pale moon browser.I find pale moon very fast on my xubuntu system and it retains the firefox look which i was so fond of until mozilla changed it.

I haven't noticed this on Ubuntu and Fx seems as fast as it always was.

Same here, latest Firefox in Ubuntu 16.04 is fine, no sluggishness or issues. It did crash once on shutdown though..

I am running it on WIN10, and don't see a slow down. It's actually pretty snappy.

No issue of any kind running Firefox in XP or W7 32 bits.

ff beta and ff 46 both 64 and 32. its not that its terribly slow but it seems with each new build they get a bit more bloated feeling lately.

With the later versions I have experienced that Adobe Flash games do not play well thus I have gone to using Google Chrome.

    zfactor,
any chance related to having 32b n' 64b sharing profile...?
    I have 32b n' 64b sharing profile and after FF45.0.2x64 updated to FF46x64.
    FF46x64 is slooow.
Prior to FF46x64.....32b n' 64b were about the same,... a nod towards x32.
    I'm back to FF45.0.2-32b.
I'm hoping multi-process (if and when) will favor x64. For now, x32 seems happier.
Update: my slooow may be related to security toy.
    Update2: #18

I´m on 46 x64, updated from 45 x64, Windows 10. It doesn´t seem sluggish to me, but of course this is subjective. Memory usage is about 0.5 GB with six tabs open in two windows. Had a BSOD crash with a Flash animation some weeks ago.

Main problem is their security errors that have made their browser unusable. Bloatware is only part of Mozilla's recent woes.

I have been noticing it for a while now and switched over to Pale Moon and Cyberfox. Either of these are much more stable and faster for me with Win 10 64.

Haven't seen any performance drawback and I've been using Firefox for at least 8 years.

Updated to 46 x64 yesterday, and it was unbearably slow. Only have the x64 version, no x32.
Have reverted back to 45.0.2 x64 via image restore.
Could be some security toy, as not everyone is experiencing this, though I have read other complaints: http://www.ghacks.net/2016/04/26/firefox-46-0/#comment-3890631
But @zfactor - it does feel as if builds had become increasingly sluggish over time, but 46 is a no-go for me.
Edit: Turned out it was an interaction with HMP.A, new build with HMP.A has subsequently fixed this. According to the developer: 'FF 46 has a new scripting engine which performs MASSIVE amount of allocations of executable heap memory. We ported back an improvement from version 3.5 (still in private beta) into 3.1 to solve the slowdown in FF 46.'

No performance problems here either. That's with uBlock0, noScript and MBAE running as well. All in the protection of Sandboxie.

No performance issues here, in fact, the latest Firefox seems significantly quicker and better than Chrome for me..

I just updated to Firefox 46 Portable and it disabled my Internet download manager extension, says it is not compatible.
it is the latest version 6.25 build 16, tried to reinstall the idmmzcc2.xpi manually and it still will not enable it?

I can't believe I'm actually considering this but unless there is a new version of Alert released that improves compatibility with FF and Cyberfox then I may temporarily uninstall HMP.A.

Firefox suffers from flash container hang crashes. Sites with Flash end up with unresponsive plugin dialog that keeps popping up.

For self-interested reasons, the streaming video industry won't move to html5. Flash is the biggest culprit in FF slowdowns.
