Hi, I own HDM 12 Pro, but have not used it for some time, so I'm a little foggy on this ... Recently I backed up a new laptop, and was wondering if I needed to make a bootable recovery CD/DVD (or USB drive) for it, or could I just use the one I used for my main system? I mean, I'm assuming it is just creating an environment so that you can use Paragon software to restore a system in case of catastrophic failure of some kind (HD failure, corrupted files, virus etc.) and that the recovery media is not tied to any ONE system. It just has to be recovery media for the backup software version I used. Am I correct in this line of thinking? Or do I have to make individual recovery media for every system I have every backed up? By the one used on your main system, do you mean a Paragon created CD/DVD or USB? If yes, the answer is yes. I use the USB created recovery on both W7 Pro and W10 Pro.
Hi, Bill ... thanks for the reply. Yes, a Paragon created CD/DVD (and USB if memory serves, think I did both) created on my desktop a couple of years ago (or more). Just wanted to make sure I could use that on my laptop (or ANY of my systems) that were backed up with Paragon. In fact, let's say I backed up my laptop with Paragon, but never made a recovery disk or usb EVER, and my laptop drive bit the dust. Couldn't I even make a recovery disk with one of my other systems and then use it to restore my laptop backup?
The recovery CD/DVD or USB flash drive can be used to boot anything but the catch I "think" is the fact that they all are 32-bit or 64-bit which is usually the case with Windows Repair discs. Some users do all their images from the Recovery disc/flash drive but I don't and never had a problem restoring.
Ok, great. So just to be safe, if you have 32-bit and 64-bit OS's, it would be best to make a recovery disk with each type.
Yes, to be safe. App wise, there are 32-bit apps that run on a 64-bit system even MS apps but there are built in conversions within the OS for that but we are talking about an OS environment here. I'm fairly sure about this but I could be wrong. I don't have a 32-bit system to try a Paragon 64-bit recovery on or I'd try!
