I am making this hard by not giving you multiple choices. Most of us would check all of them. Which one posses the greatest threat ? Choose one.
I voted ransomware because as the IT Director at a business it would be a terrible thing that could impact the entire company and I can't control the actions of the end users. Now that I see that Flash can drop ransomware... Having been the victim of identity theft (though it was 15 years ago) that also sucks. The other things are MUCH less of concern, as most of them are already going on and won't likely bring my world to a halt to deal with them.
I think that users (ourselves) would be near or at the top of any such list. Specifically: our lack of knowledge, lack of experience, lack of wisdom to make correct prudent choices, and our carelessness at times. Also worth explicit mention would be: lack of time to learn and research and fight for what is best for consumers, lack of money to acquire education and/or the highest quality solutions, lack of discipline and determination to prioritize security/privacy over convenience, etc. I think we'd need a similar line item on the developer/manufacturer side of the equation too. THEIR lack of knowledge, experience, etc, etc, etc. Especially: their business decisions which drive consumers away from solutions that are best for consumer security/privacy and towards those that are best for developer/manufacturer profit.
At the moment ransomware has been making the most impact, both on home users and businesses. But corporate espionage is also a big problem, and don't forget about "Business Email Compromise" attacks. http://securityaffairs.co/wordpress/45445/cyber-crime/olympic-vision-bec.html
Definitely ID theft. Ransomware is on the rise but backup is atleast the solution. System infection can be handled. ID theft cannot be reverted i.e you have to be quick to change info, etc...but still you lose stuffs after changing info like email add, phone number, etc...
None of the above . I keep myself well-informed on all of those issues ( thanks to this forum and many other sources ) , and I act accordingly. They have zero impact on my life ..... and long may it remain so
Good Morning! Identity Theft! The disturbing truth is the Organized Crime Faction...Warehouse Information...and years later when you least expect it...the Unexpected Happens! And the Rule of Thumb is we all have to Practice our Due Diligence...Monitoring Banking and Credit Card Statements...Credit Bureau Updates...and keeping constant watch of our cards when in Public...Vigilance is the Key Word. Sincerely...Securon
Identity Theft for me as not only it could get you into trouble with local authorities but it could ruin your reputation through rumors and innuendo. It is also difficult to stop such a theft with experienced crackers. Ransomware, is not a problem for my environment.
