Thank you. Sad to here this about HIPS. You mean that a system can be infected without any popup from HIPS? Or with wrong answers to popups?

What do you think about the Viruscope? Is it worth having it on?

What do you think about auto-sandboxed web browsers. Is it worth doing this? With what restrictions?

Solar- again, it's not that the Comodo HIPS IS BAD, it's just that with the Sandbox on it's really not needed. An example would be Petya- If you run Petya with sandbox off, HIPS on you will get a host of HIPS alerts and with the correct choice you will be protected. With both sandbox and HIPS on there are no HIPS alerts at all and you will be protected. In the latter case the sandbox is restricting what Petya can do, thus negating any HIPS alerts.

The thing about Comodo that is different is that in almost all other security applications the more options you tick off the better the protection will be; with Comodo the simpler the setup the better the protection. Trust me on this.

And the Comodo AV is wretched. If you REALLY feel the need for a local AV, use CF + Qihoo.

Thank you for your posts.Ive played on and off with comodo over the years with different os ,and in the end got fed up with all the different configs/options and opinions available ,not really understanding them and not having the time or patience to learn them all.I ususally ended up ticking most things ..alaways hips and after a while got bogged down.Ive now reverted to xp ,and have been using malware defender/or SSM and mbam plus sygate firewall. The system is very fast with this setup. However after reading your posts and following the video where hips is not activated (although i kept the alerts on) ,i tried comodo again ,and am very impressed.Indeed only the firewall and sandbox is on (with the settings shown in your video),and im not even running mbam full time anymore.I also threw loads of malc0de database stuff at the config ,and its passed everything. The footprint is also light. Its hard to break the habit of a resident av and hips always on ,but the setup you have shared is spot on indeed.
    Thank you

Thank you for your post! Although it goes against prevailing wisdom, with Comodo the simpler the settings the more elegant the result.

Is even the cloud Av wretched according to you ?

Are you planing on testing Comodo c.Av some time in the future when it has matured ?

First off, about CCAV- I both like it and hate it.

I like it because it essentially incorporates the little tweaks that I have been promoting for years (by default it will stop sandboxed malware-like keyloggers- from connecting out, it raises the sandbox level to something similar to Restricted- actually something between Restricted and Untrusted, and Comodo also realizes that HIPS is not needed with an elevated sandbox setting). I hate it because it is annoyingly sluggish and won't prevent ALL sandboxed apps from the accessing the network

Regarding the AV- You really have to realize that the traditional AV is nothing more than a relic of yesteryear, and that Comodo's AV- cloud or local- in no way is top tier (and remember I am a FanGirl).

As soon as it does mature sufficiently to the point where I don't want to throw my laptop out the Windows when CCAV is installed I certainly will revisit it!

Can you demo the above bold with a video?
I mean default is 'Internet Security" config & in this config FW auto-allows.
So do you mean in "Internet Security" config?

    Ok.
I think it is a very interesting product and have high hopes that it will be as good cloud Av as cloud Av`s usually are and if it becomes that it will be a superproduct that is very easy to recommend to clients.

Looking forward to a video - FanGirl.

Sounds just like me. I've also tried Comodo numerous times over the years, always wondering if I had all the settings correct with regard to AV, HIPS, sandbox, and FW. I'm very interested in trying out this new setup! Would it be possible to share Cruelsister's steps, or a link to said video? Much appreciated!
