Cheers for the update pegas :)

Not really a fan of the edge browser looks they have added. It's a pity as it is a good browser but they seem to be making the same mistakes as Mozilla in adding features & changing the looks of the UI just for the sake of it. The new UI now looks like a knock off Edge browser.

    You're welcome :)
It's a matter of opinion. The new GUI takes over the system's look but I wouldn't dare to say it is a fork of Edge.

and to mention that edge with its tab is same like internet explorer multi tab ever was. to glad i dont own edge on my win10 ltsb :D

Yeah it's just my opinion but it's obvious that they have made the back, forward & reload buttons on the toolbar to look more like Edge browser.

I know, but every time they release a new version I foolishly hope that they found the wisdom. As I already said in this thread, I believe that Opera developers simply don't want to recognize to have done a mistake. Or, that they don't want to surrender to users desires.

dudes - you dont get one thing - presto was outdated before opera 12 was released. it had to be reinvented from scratch and thats the main reason to use an existing and well working engine and put opera again on top. i dont see anything wrong with the new speed dial except i can not deactivate it and that seems part of their philosophie. i can stick with it or leave opera - there was enough versions and suggestions for speed dial and non was set. so why further complaining now - and here where devs dont read? you think moaning long enough would help? dont think so!

They are no complaints, it is anger. Well:

    - I can't manage the size of the thumbnails, in speed dial, as I did in old version.
    - I can't move Opera button and other bar in the bottom of the page.
    - I can't manage settings and appearance as in old version.
    - I don't like actual bookmarks management.
    - Old Opera was much more customizable.

ok but why bother with (chromium based) opera when you got google chrome, srware iron, dragon, and many others. what made opera a good alternative was the fact that it was using another engine, presto and that it was highly customizable.

that alone is enough reason to ditch opera.

Sure, but I can't find something customizable as old Opera was.

again - presto was outdated long before v12.
any current limitations to new opera are given from webkit2/blink - i made same experience with vivaldi, chrome and chromium. in fact opera has not all options in about:flags as chrome, vivaldi or chromium i miss some. speed dial i mentioned earlier.

if you have rant or anger - dont look back. myself has some pity with current firefox - i am currently working with firefox after weeks ago, just random. i switched to opera and i have chromium i the box from time to time. i dont linke chrome, i dont like vivaldi.
ok its boring to see the favorite browser going down - but i cant help. i lost lots of nice software and had to research for a replacement.

btw - question: why dont you still work with opera 12 if it was that good?
what was the reason to switch? what have you expected?
what did you think about the opera ceo invented vivaldi?
why did he left? who lost focus? him or the others?
(from my view just another figure in the game, same for mozilla personals - they come, they go.)

I'm using Opera 12, but it's not more supported for security, and moreover, it has rendering problems with some sites. i don't like Vivaldi too. Chrome, as all Google things, it's invasive for privacy, I never would use it and Gmail together. Don't laugh, but once, using Linux, I liked Konqueror.

Chrome is not that bad, they removed the most sniffing features - but added extensions for their products (docs, mail, cloud, etc) which are missing in vivaldi and others. While that time Iron had its outcome but Iron has the problem - it is not supported in time for fixes and leaks.

btw i dont lough, i never had a working or installed -ix, only live-cd. was not mine. ;)

USA still the best. But barely.
I'm liking Vivaldi. Bookmarks in Panel ain't the best & it don't play vids on all sites. But Vivaldi doesn't anger me like Chromium nor scare me like Chrome. And does the new "Opera" even have real Bookmarks yeto_O That was the stupidest thing ever!

The old Opera was my browser hero I used it since there was a paid version. I defended it against all comers. It was literally 10x faster than IE when I had dial-up.

This new thing has none of the community spirit the old Opera had. This new thing shut down the MyOpera pages the old Opera would have never. I feel a sense of community humaneness if you will growing up around Vivaldi. This new thing is an imposter wearing Opera's skin. Creepy like put the lotion in the basket creepy.

I had to install an extension in Opera 36 to make the Chrome Store extensions installable.

No surprise here since Opera is now Chromium-based and nearly all the Chrome extensions are compatible with it as well those offered by Opera itself.

    you talk about this one
    https://addons.opera.com/extensions/details/app_id/kipjbhgniklcnglfaldilecjomjaddfi

in some cases it is better to install the chrome store version - eg stylish.
i look always both and if versions were same i take opera - those are tested with opera and works.
some of the chrome store not always work. same for vivaldi - some from chrome dont work, eg download sound or SiteLauncher. Opera is more compatible.

i also look for updates on both stores. if chrome has an update and opera not i switch. expert/import settings if possible because in most cases the extension unifier changes.

Opera is sending every url to sitecheck2.opera.com

Opera has nothing to do with users url being sent to Opera servers without their permission

DONT USE OPERA. ITS A SPY

    http://www.pcworld.com/article/3059...st-free-unlimited-vpn-for-secure-surfing.html

Of course, a VPN may also enable illicit activities. For years, international users watched Netflix via VPN so they could see movies that weren’t available in their country—until Netflix cracked down. And, of, course, people use VPNs to evade the prying eyes of government watchdogs when downloading data via BitTorrent.

Why this matters: Free, unlimited VPN is an enormous coup for Opera. There are two major questions that Opera will need to answer, though: First, what are the terms of service of the VPN, and the acceptable use policy?

My guess is Opera is going to check the URLs to enforce its' TOS.
