Outside of the USA, Google search defaults to the country code. It does so where I live. Using the country default Google.ca to do a search, two of my extensions do not work under Chrome. Those extensions are WOT and TrafficLight. The only other extensions I have are UblockO and HttpsEverywhere and they work just fine. If I select Google.com to search, those two extensions indicate what sites are safe. A friend suggested it was UblockO - he said it has determined the indicators are images and has blocked them. I think not, but I an stumped on this one - maybe he is right. I know about the .ncr setting but that is not the issue here. I just would like to know why those 2 extensions do not not display anything with the country specific Google search. I sure would like to know if anyone else sees a difference with these 2 extensions or any other extensions when using a country specific Google search. And why should it be different? I could not find anything online about it.
https_everywhere is no good and causes trouble. WOT is user base driven and NOT reliable -> uninstall. uBlock is reliable and replaces also WOT - tick the list from hosts-file.net. not sure if uBlock is causing your issue, i did not have some with vivaldi or opera, or chromium as forkes.
Thank you for your comments on the extensions. I do not think the problem is with the extensions - seems more likely Google. I was hoping that someone who does not live in the USA, who uses the Google country specific search may be having the same issue.
I don't use WOT in Chrome, only Cyberfox, but it does work @ google.com.au. I haven't used Traffic Light so can't comment.
Regarding searches, I use often DuckDuckGo. And it is my browser default search engine. Now if I want to do a google.com search, I can put them search words and !g in for the duck search. Sometimes it is nicer to use google to be able to search say for last week time period etc. that duck I think does not allow to limit. Now if I want to search in my native finnish language a google search with duck, say search for 'guitar strings' I will put a search: kitaran kielet !gfi into duck. That !gfi tells to use a finnish language google search. fi means Finland. I am not sure how this answers the OP, but I think this answers about using multiple language for google searches in general and in an easy way using DuckDuckGo. I don't use WOT, less extensions the better. I think freedome search angine that I don't use gives also them ratings for search results without an extension. I am not sure if it gives any privacy more than google though.
Finally solved. I have Javascript disabled by default on Chrome. It was enabled on my home page, Google.com and not on Google.com.ca - I missed this when I was trying to figure out the problem. When enabled on Google.ca both WOT and TrafficLight worked on all the searches. What Javascript has to do with returned search results - I have no idea.
