Ok, it seems they really have written code from scratch in JS and ported it into C++, nice. Proper coding can yield performance increase. Still this browser is a no-go for me since it replaces some of the ads (also doesn't provide anything revolutionary).

Yes. Also, remember these parsers were written by the Brave Co-Founder Brian Bondy, who i believe is an ex-mozillian employee..
It has an option to block the ads too!
However, it is too early to tell how this browser becomes, since lots of feature are still being cooked up...
So, lets see how it turns out!

The good thing with this is, since it replaces ads by default, at-least one vector of being infected is effectively closed on the default installation itself! (i.e., malvertising)

Brian Bondy was a co-founder of Mozilla, he was forced to resign after some of his controversial views.

Anyway on topic, let's see how they bake out their concept since we are talking on whats and ifs here.

BTW, I downloaded the preview version for Windows but it's very bare bones with hardly any options, is this some joke? I do wonder if this ad-injecting idea is a success, if other browser makers will follow. I suppose Vivaldi can easily add such a feature.

I guess there's no telling if the release versions will have more options. Are you on Windows X64? That's the only Windows version I see. I didn't see that before, but it may explain why I couldn't install it when I tried.

Yes, it's not for Win 32 bit apparently. But so far the browser is a joke. And the funny thing is that Ghostery finds 3 trackers on their bloated website, I thought they wanted to fix things?

Apparently they have now released a stable version, but I can't find any differences with the developer version, it's still a joke. Has anyone already tested the ad injecting feature? I'm not willing to give it network access.

Where do you see a stable version? Source??
Its still in developer version. See here - https://github.com/brave/browser-laptop/releases

    Not quite completely true.
Adblock is natively implemented and written c++.
However not sure about HTTPSEverywhere. I think it is closely integrated though, looking at it commits though.

Since its a brand new browser. It is just basic version.
However some of its features make it quite unique. Like Partitioned Tabs, Privacy Oriented (Like native Integration of content blocking a.k.a adblocking, httpseverywhere)
And they are considering about Browser Fingerprinting, how every it is quite early stage to judge about it...https://github.com/brave/browser-laptop/issues/242

Regardless this isn't anything you can't do as well or better (ublock) on your own. You have no control over what filters are used. Its also likely several versions behind chromium also making it a security risk.

I havnt tried the windows version but i do like the Android version previously called Link Bubble, if i click on a link lets say in Twitter, then it loads in a sepeate bubble in the background so i can view it and any other links i clicked on later.

I installed it and surfed around for a while on my usual (swedish) sites and I must say the adblocking do work nicely (I dont see any) and it is blazing fast. My main browser is Chrome based Vivaldi, the fastest browser (with all the addons I use) for me, but brave is even faster in loading pages, so I´d say it looks promising.

As of now yes. But they are planning to be on the latest version of chromium within a day or two..
Yes, uBlock set a quite a bar. Thanks to Raymond.
Time will tell how it goes. For now, its quite fast and efficient.

I must have misunderstood, weeks ago I downloaded a version, but then I saw news about it being released officially. But believe me, a browser shouldn't be this basic, even in its early stage. Vivaldi had a lot more options.

What about the ad-injecting feature, does it already work?

I downloaded this just to have a look see. To put it mildly - they have a long way to go although I doubt they get past the lawsuits lined up against them.
