    Hi :)

I am currently using FF 43.04 and have been using this latest version since it was released.

I have a slighly annoying problem: EVERYTIME I open FF I get my Home Page AND five extra tabs opening and downloding:

    "Thank You For Updating:

Colorful Tabs, All-In-One -Side Bar, No Script, Undo closed tab buttom, and YouTube Hi Definition."

I get a seperate tab for each of these extensions thanking me for updating them every time I open FF.

Is this happeneing to anyone else? Is there a solution to stop it?

I know it's not the end of the world , but it gets annoying.

    Thanks for reading :)

Maybe the Undo Closed Tab button addon is malfunctioning?

Hawki, if you are using Sandboxie, you need to let Firefox apply the updates unsandboxed, and then go back to running sandboxed.

Updating the addons unsandboxed and closing Firefox without letting the browser restart to apply the updates is the one way I know what you describe will happen. If you are not using Sandboxie, what I described might give you an idea of whats going on.

There are a few apps using sandboxing... Sandboxie (of course), Comodo, Avast, Chrome (I think), and a few others I'm sure. Any one of them should have the same effect if trying to update when sandboxed, not sure about Chrome. I would say to op make sure updates are set to ask to update when updates are available, then on notification update unsandboxed. I suspect he/she has browser set to update automatically.

drhu22, what I described in my post happens when you update the addons out of the sandbox. If you update your addons running Firefox sandboxed, when you reopen the browser, the addons are gone, deleted and you will not get the tabs that open for Hawki when he opens Firefox.

But you ll get the tabs if you update the addons out of the sandbox and close the browser without applying the update/restarting the browser unsandboxed. It becomes a loop that finishes when you finally apply the updates by running Firefox unsandboxed. Thats the fix if Sandboxie is involved.

Don't know if he's running Sandboxie but if he is you guys are likely right. If not, I agree with the corrupt profile, might be worth creating a new one.

I not really understand why everyone want sandbox the browser, if you start it by default in private mode and install strong blockers you can almost control everything and it get's wiped (with correct settings) automatically if you shutdown Firefox so I see no benefit, especially if we talk in the future if FF really gets e10s support and each tab/page runs isolated in a new process like in chrome. I do agree that sandbox could help if you start unknown processes but in 90% of all cases you need to run in under admin privileges to harm you in any way, if not it can't access/write in the registry/profile dir. So for me sandbox is so 1999 especially because the sandbox itself can be bypassed (if someone really want infect you) same like in Virtual Machine, it's no secret that most powerful trojans/rat's/C&C check against sabdbox/VM with simply checks so I doubt it really secures anything because you might think it's secure because under VM/sandbox it's shows secure but in fact under the real environment it loads then it's malware thing which wasn't visible with the first check. Same like virtual-total checks, I highly doubt that it really helps because crackers/hackers are not that stupid to not check there own products against them to make them fud. So I think this is more for beginners or to get an quick overview but it can never replace in-depth views of course no one or only a few people doing this because time reasons and the effort behind it.

I think todays malware/trojans/whatever want to steal your logins/private data instead of 'infect' you to destroy something and sandboxie not protects you in this case because the sandbox not protects against data submission which will be during the browsing session and in todays version you don't even can addons without any notice or in the background without the need to change something within the browser itself. Of course it also not protects against faked installers or link redirects which downloads the infected version.

it's not against the product or something but in 21th most stuff changed.
