Zemana AntiMalware 2 BETA

I hadn't accessed this snapshot for 11 days, and I had last run v2.19.1.797 (Portable) on January 1st. I loaded the portable version and found there was an update.

However, from then on it seemed trying to run/update caused another program to detect a virus in a temp file in another program.

More screenshots show various interactions and messages when running ZAM earlier today. After, excluding the one file from scanning by F-Secure Safe, no further problems occurred.

can confirm the auto update system works well, have updated to the latest version.

 

What You experienced was no auto-update, just a update notification.

There are forced updates, that install without user action.
They only are deployed when critical.

I'm sorry if this has been asked and answered in this thread but I've never tried ZAM and I'm not keen on reading nearly 70 pages of this thread.

Does the free version have any processes or services running when not in use?

I myself ran ZAM portable free. There is no real-time protection. Hence there is no process running when not in use.

The free version loads at startup. But this can be disabled from the advanced settings. I'll see if I can check to see if the ZAM service still gets loaded.

Regardless ...A new day, another snapshot and different security software combination...This time updating from v2.19.1.797 portable to v2.19.1.842 portable.


This time I ran into a server problem, but the update came through after a retry...

@Krusty13 I just checked on a computer running the free version, and the ZAM service still is loaded when the ZAM is set to not launch at startup.

 

Ah! So like SAS (SUPERAnti-Spyware), it needs a service running.... sigh.
@ ZAM developers, why??

Sweet, another beta...Two quick, for me keep up.

 

yes I read the posts here about the new update, went into the app, manually checked for an update, was detected, installed, no issues.

 

I'm not sure if I'm the only one who experiences this, that ZAM cannot continue to update when internet speed is slow. It just stops and then later it will say that update has failed. And instead of continuing the previous download, it will start from the beginning. This is happening to my ZAM every time that our home experiences slow internet connection due to various reasons.

Actually right now, my ZAM is not yet updated to the latest version. I think I have retried updating ZAM for more than 7 tries consecutively now without success.


Edit: Just so you know, our internet connection speed is not very, very slow. So, there should be nor reason that ZAM should have difficulty updating. My AV even downloads fine right now. I could even download something in the internet without timeouts.

But I can consider our internet connection as "stable". I wouldn't be able to reply immediately to this thread if it is not. As I said, I can download something reliably right now, although very slow. Kaspersky was even able to update well just recently without errors in its logs about update.
