Hmm, not sure if this is good news. Doesn't look good, but we'll see.

 

I bought a life-time license years ago, but I never did get it to work on my system....Not the FW one though, the other one, I forget the name they use.

 

The Security Suite? You should use that license, it's quite good.

Just waiting in the wings, ...since my [current] Emsisoft license will be not suffice after April, 2016 for XP...And, which has been mentioned in the forum, elsewhere by @Fabian Wosar, over the last few months, that development of EAM/EIS for XP is not continued. Not to worry!

 

Not clear from that announcement the meaning of "acquired the technologies". Did they acquire Agnitum or just get to use Agnitum's programmers and methods.

Several versions of Outpost on XP was giving me one problem - internet was dead when I was coming out of standby. And only rebooting would fix it.

 

@act8192 ...I did contact the developers at the time, a few years ago...but, nothing was resolved. So, I just didn't use the product, because it wasn't working properly on my system. I will try again, after I can no longer use Emsisoft products on XP.

 

I wonder if they have bought the company or a badly translated licensed their technology?

 

I'm surprised by the lack of reactions, but seems like Outpost will now be developed under the wing of Yandex. It's a logical move, it will make it easier for Agnitum to survive.

 

I am really looking forward to that. Yandex browser is already more secure than Chrome thanks to features like an inbuilt Kaspersky scanner.

@Tarnak I've also got an unused lifetime license for Outpost Security Suite Pro. I find it too heavy for my liking, but I may use it one day.

 

You have not understood,Outpost is in economic trouble.

No future for a firewall without antivirus ...

 

As evidenced by more recent updates (and the huge gap/delay of them) I had figured Agnitum was already whirling the drain to oblivion and I think (hope?) this might give them just what they need to keep the wheels of the existing consumer products turning.

At the same time history doesn't show a good score for such mergers/switches in ownership and while I was doubtful of the Sandboxie\Invencia situation it has turned out ok as of this day. We can only hope the same will hold true here. :-/

Hearing from Agnitum would help [and I hope they something soon] but silence has been the new norm for over a year now. I used to get [real, helpful, somewhat accurate] email responses in under 48 hours. These days it takes much longer to get anything other than an automated response where the circle starts again because the information they request was actually sent in the original report but I'm forced to copy and paste (and highlight it) then reply with quoted info that already existed in the original ticket. A bit of back forth where they ask for more info I've already provided [perhaps a few pieces I didn't but the majority was there at the start and in that case there was nothing that could have helped] then over a month later we might get to the point of an acknowledgement that the issue exists (and is not just in my head) with yet more time tacked on for them to start working on a fix. Considering my latest experiences, If I didn't already have a license, I wouldn't have even considered purchasing one with the delays/issues I experienced recently. Perhaps Yandex acquiring them will enable a return (closer) to the service they used to provide. /fingers crossed but I'm not holding my breath.

 

I meant that normally a lot of people will post their concerns, but it's indeed strange that Agnitum is being so silent.

@busy Thanks for the information. I just exchanged my lifetime Outpost Security Pro license for a two year Kaspersky license. It will probably remain unused like my Outpost license.

 

I just use the firewall, so as long as it works, that's fine. However, I just don't know which one I would pick if I had to replace it.

 

outpost firewall/security suite will remain supported and receive a/v & a/m updatres till 31 december 2016.

trade in for licenses offer to migrate to kaspersky security suite expires end of jan, new KISS keys supplied for 1 to 2 years depending on which outpost license, 1 for short term licenses, 2 yrs for lifetime licences (you get two keys, second can be added to first and extends the expiry automatically as the first expires. the email confirmation for users trading in a lifetime license with the keys is misleading as they call one key 'commercial serial' and the other 'activation'. use both as activation keys for a total of 2 yrs. program will still say 1 year, but will roll over to the second key when that expires.

is it possible to install and activate outpost after that date?
or is it refused, or not to activate? ofc service behind will be dead, but the core components should work? Firewall, hips?

 

i am not sure. you may need to ask agnitum directly from their site. i think it be unable to get updates to signature files but keep working otherwise.

 

I just wanted to say: RIP Outpost. What a shame that they won't develop it anymore, and even worse, they are not even offering a freeware version with lifetime license, like the SSM team did.
