Can I install and setup LastPass with a Local Vault only?

No. You need an account which means cloud based. Sorry.

OH I thought I found a way around IDSafe. IS the Cloud that bad? Is the FREE version OK? I still like FF especially for the print/print preview Extension. It is the only one so far that lets you scale the printout and I do not see one for Chrome. I did not post on Norton as I did not want to continue the NON Norton based comments.

I'm using LastPass now with both Firefox and Cyberfox with no complaints. I had to do something until Norton is working again. Actually, I don't mind having the cloud vault now which works across different browsers and devices. If I add a new login from one machine using Firefox That login is available to use in Cyberfox on my other machine.

I didn't download the full Windows installer, only the FF extension, because Norton is still working with Chrome and IE11.

As always, your mileage may vary.

OK...well, if I do try this I "may" d/l the full installer...or not. I did not see a FF only extension or is that something you select during the Install? Also, are you using the FREE Version?
I use IDSafe with a local vault, but I wonder if Norton is always going to be a few months away from it breaking again as FF gets updates! Also, did you disable ID Safe in Firefox?

Take care and see you on the other forum. :)

I use Lastpass with Yubikey for standard cloud accounts, and Password safe plus Yubikey for local/other accounts. I believe KeePass works that way too. Horses for courses.

I thought of trying KeePass as there is a PORTABLE version that does not install. If I go to a website in FireFox, will KeePass log me in?

I had seen that LastPass is available in the FireFox addon list but it is NOT version 4.0. Does it still give you ver 3?

Thank you. Yubikey seems like more than I want to get in to.

I also noticed that the Firefox extension didn't update to v4. You can get it by manually downloading from lastpass.com though. I've been using the v4 extension on Firefox for a while and haven't noticed any show stopping bugs. LastPass automation has always been less than perfect in my experience; v4 is working well enough. The main thing I notice is the full size toolbar is gone.

Well, it seems that I just may have to try LastPass. No browser prints like Firefox. The Firefox addon lets you scale a printout. There is an extension in Chrome but it ONLY works on a web page. It will NOT work on a gmail message for example.

I was going to report a bug. Generating a password in the Firefox version doesn't work. However it seems if you go into advanced options and change a setting 'allow all character types', then it works fine.

Strange how it doesn't work 'out of the box', at least for me.

Its a good idea, however you would have to use some common sense on who you were going to give it to. I can see it working in instances such as someone ending up in the hospital for a extended period or if someone passes away. At least another person such as your wife would have access to your accounts to pay bills etc. Just give it to someone who is absolutely trustworthy and may need access in the event of an emergency, and only an emergency, hence the trustworthy part. Could solve a lot of headaches in these instances.

I think it's fine - after all, from an operational security perspective, we trust people with far more than this exposure. And the benefits to people we care about can be great, as in the case of incapacity for whatever reason.

    Quick question everyone...
Will Lastpass log me in to my GMAIL accounts? My wife and I have several and wonder if it gives us a choice. Also, can we stay logged in and log into a different Gmail Account? We will use FireFox mostly.

Yes, LastPass can login to your Gmail account. I don't know that you can log into two Gmail accounts at the same time using the same browser though; I haven't tried that. It would certainly work to use a different browser for the second account. LastPass supports Chrome and IE in addition to Firefox.
