After reading this i wanted to go from ie10 to ie11. After downloading and installing ie11 i restarted. After restart the computer was locked up and frozen so i forced a shutdown. After boot everything seems to be normal so far.

No, but after the first installation, Flash will auto-update.

FYI, I installed all updates (except three) on two W7x64 machines and all seems well.
The three I excluded were all previously hidden and came back... like a waitress with a bad memory.
KB2952664 (Compatibility Update for upgrading W7), KB3035583 (Get Windows 10 App) and KB3102429 (Language)

Hehe, I had few such encounters :)
Thanks for warning us. Will be careful in a week or so, when I decide to install them.

Ongoing Bork Tuesday problem to report... every month the MS updates break my desktop Chrome shortcut icons, effectively changing them from the familiar red/yellow/green/blue ball to a blank, white page icon. The only way I have been able to repair the breakage is to reinstall Chrome (after backing up the User Data folder). This shortcut icon change happens on two W7x64 computers. In an effort to put a positive spin on this mess, I tell myself that it is good to reinstall Chrome every month.

    - On December 11, 2015, as per the above link, MS recommended users install patch KB3093594.
    - The patch borked. Later, MS acknowledged two major issues. MS did not withdraw the patch.
    - On December 17th, MS fixed one of the issues (mail app crashes) but not the second (mail sync problems).

On Jan 12, 2016 MS sent this patch (KB3093594) as an optional update probably because the update to Outlook is imminent. My understanding is that it should not be installed unless you have Outlook Preview installed. I do not, so why was it sent to me?

    @anon
Did you receive the optional update on Jan 12 - did you install it?

Security Update for Windows Kernel to Address Elevation of Privilege (3124605)
    Published: January 12, 2016

    Version: 1.0

This security update resolves vulnerabilities in Microsoft Windows. The vulnerabilities could allow elevation of privilege if an attacker logs on to an affected system and runs a specially crafted application.

This security update is rated Important for all supported releases of Microsoft Windows. For more information, see theAffected Software section.

The security update addresses the vulnerabilities by correcting how Windows handles certain scenarios involving mount point creation. For more information about the vulnerabilities, see the Vulnerability Information section........................... This is for KB3121212 on Jan 12th. I think i will hide this 1212 update.

I do not think they list Optional Updates anymore on the bulletins list. I also noticed that the KB article was last updated 12/23/2015, however the update indicates that it was published 01/8/2016. I have a screen shot ...

I clicked on 'more' and it takes me to the KB info article - updated 12/23/2015, though the issues list remains the same as what was shown Dec 17th.

I decided to check out the W7 Help Forum to see if there was any mention of it there. Under News, January 12th Security update rel Summary (page 2) there is a poster who stated the following ...
"Had 17 important, which included security updates for Office 2007 and 2 optional including KB2952664 and the Windows Live Mail 2012 update."

So it is out there, warts and all.

The Sargasso Sea is the best place for it! I fear it isn't deep enough lol. Why do I have this feeling M$ aren't really listening to their customers anymore?
