I had similar problem with SBIE. I had to run it unsandboxed once, after that everything is OK.

LOL, nice find. It would have saved me so much time, so my advice is to make a clearly visible "settings" button.

Quick question...I have 3rd party frames blocked globally but embedded youtube videos are blocked on malwaretips. Should I create a local allow rule for MT or a global noop rule for youtube?

Gorhill provides some nice suggestions related to your question. In my case, fwiw, I allow embedded Youtube videos globally via noop rule.

    Thanks :thumb:

Why is this happening? This error hasn't happened before with UO & Ghostery

Looks like this is because the GA script is being redirected to a dummy script by uBO. Try disabling Ghostery and see if it resolves the issue.
    - If it does, then enable Ghostery and try to disable filtering of Google Analytics or any other scripts related to google.
    - If the above step resolves the issue. Then it looks like two extensions cannot modify a script resources...interesting!!

Some one has suggested the same @github

Also, any reason to use Ghostery on top of uBO? What is your configuration for uBO?

Using Ghostery doesn't create added value. Note that in gorhill's test only the default filter lists were used but many more are available for uBlock0. Not to mention Dynamic Filtering.

  16. Two modes surfing. For my work I either connect to cloud services or am looking for some info, same applies to private browsing (online banking and other stuff to trusted websites, where I don't want to block scripts etc). So although uBlock origin is a brilliant solution, I use AdGuard and Script Blocker for Chrome together. For the simple reason that I either browse to trusted websites (Script Blocker for Chrome switched off) or browse to unknown (scriptblocker blocks scripts/iframes/plugins, but allows same domain scripts/iframes/plugins).

I know you develop this software for your own (reason to transfer it to uBlock to another developer), but you seem to actively develop it now again, I have a go at it (who knows you might even step down from Olympus and respond to this request):

@gorhill So here is my question: would it be possible to switch ON/OFF advanced user mode from the icon?

Though this is not directed to users, may i answer...
At this time, you do not have an option to turn off completely from the icon. However, you can simply noop the resource types (all, script, frame) from global cells, which should give you the similar effect. This should work unless, there is a block rule exists in the narrower scope.

Thx for responding, Noop does not work. When redirecting from the portal to the subsite with a different name there seems to be some call back mechanism which checks some token. So when the portal allows third party, the functionality of the subsite still breaks because uBlock blocks thrid party on the subsite.

It is an online training platform and for every training I get redirected to a subsite with a different name. I initially took the effort to also NOOP the subsite. On this on-line training you only get three tries (finishing first receiving an A, second a B, third a C after that you have to buy a new study token). But after completion of my first training, I found out tweaking with uBlock had lowered my grades (courses of which I thought I had finished with an A, were reported as B, two B's were reported as a C). Luckily I passed everything, so tweaking with uBlock did not cost me any money.

The reason I wanted to test ghostery is to see how many trackers UB wasn't blocking (I have all 3 privacy lists ticked) so here's an example...

TMZ has tons of trackers is why I chose it.

That does not work for Chromium-based browsers, because they work in parallel. All extensions are given the opportunity to examine and block a network requests, so you can't really infer what one blocker did not block according to what another blocker did blocked. Any benchmark to find out blocking efficiency must be done with only one extension active, then the results can be compared.

For Firefox-based browsers, this could work because they work in serial, assuming you know which extension block first and which block last.

What settings in ublock are the most powerful so using ghostery or disconnect wouldn't even be needed? Is this possible?

  24. uBlock does not have an option to block plug-ins running content from third party, like Script Blocker for Chrome.

See picture below (part of options menu of Script Blocker for Chrome)
    upload_2016-1-8_8-22-16.png

Block all, allow same domain of ScriptBlocker, works simular to uBlock blocking third party scripts and iframes in advanced user mode.

    @gorhill
Does blocking third party scripts/iframes in uBlock implicitely blocks running a plug-in with third party content source?

  25. Can be compared only when the content of the webpage is the same. On many news sites the sponsored ads change per news item relating to this news topic, so these deviations (small differences) can't be attributed to the ad blocker (say when Adblocks allows 501 request and Ghostery allows 491 request out of a larger total of for instance 8000, does mean Ghostery did better, but whether it was due to the blocker or due to changed webpage content is uncertain).

For the record: I am not posting that uBlock scores are irrelative. uBlock performs better than others in all the test you posted.
