    The annual poll is here again.

    Security Products are not individually listed this year, but if you vote on security as a winner or loser you might want to elaborate. I have added a few new categories that were not there in previous years, like IOT and Cloud. IOT has reached the consumer (smart cars, smart TVs, some appliances, home security, medical devices). Cloud solutions are evolving and user participation is growing. Lastly, I have added 'User'. Consumer, customer, or client of product and services - when you vote, you might want to add a comment as to why you feel that way.

    P.S. If you feel that any one category was a winner in some areas and a loser in others, you can vote them as both a winner and a loser. If however, you think they were more a loser than a winner overall (and vv), it is best to choose just one.

    LOL, I remember this poll from last year. My personal opinion: M$ was a loser because of the Win 10 privacy fiasco, that was a buzz kill. Most AV's are losers to me, the bloat never seems to stop. Facebook is another loser, the site performance is still a joke, same goes for all of the Yahoo sites. Mozilla is still a loser, no wonder Chrome is winning the browser war even though it sucks. And finally, I'm allergic to cloud and IoT services, but they are set to get quite popular in the coming years.

    I chose MS as a winner because of the new Surface Book and the strong focus on security in W10. I also chose them as a loser for abmismal support, failure to communicate effectively, a questionable QA policy and their tin ear. I also felt that the User was the victim of too many corporate data breaches and insecure IOT devices.

    I voted for Microsoft, Android, Google and Security as winners.

    Microsoft got my vote because of Windows 10. Privacy concerns aside, my experience with Windows 10 has on the whole been very positive. Performance is very good, even on old hardware, and I really like the new Start Menu. I mainly use a 7 year old Core 2 Duo laptop, and peformance is so good that I never feel I need a faster laptop. Some securty software, even Windows Defender causes annoying slowdowns with the Core 2 Duo processor. But, as long I'm runnnig a really light antivirus, peformance is always very good.

    I voted for Android because of the ever increaing performance and features of budget Android phones. The $130 Meizu M2 (you can purchase it at the moment for $115) I purchased a few months back, works amazingly well for the price. It is very fast, the quality is very good and the specs are quite decent.

    Google gets my vote, because while I perfer not to use Chrome, I'm very happy with 360 Extreme Explorer, which is Chromium based. Also, Google is still the only search engine I use.

    I voted for security as a winner due to the increasing amount of excellent free security software, including the new free version of Zemana AntiMalware. Although, I guess a vote for loser would be appropriate too considering the ever increasing amount of threats.

    Mozilla was a major loser the day it decided to be like Chrome and diminish it's users privacy and customization with each passing version since 27.0.1 And with privacy erosion with each passing version of Windows OS's as well it & end users using it come out major losers as well.

    Android was the only thing on the list I could dub a winner... though I wouldn't use one. I'm oldschool and only use prepaid phones, the simpler the better. I don't even have a camera on mine, or web. Just calling and texting, and that's it.

    @Joxx
    Sorry Joxx. I really screwed up there. I have also been asked why I did not include Social Media. I can not edit it now (afaik), but I will definitely include both in the 2016 list.

    In 2015 Linux announced a couple of new distros and updated existing ones. Even Puppy came bouncing back in 2015. It may be a major player in 2016, re: its IoT presence is growing. There are also the users who are not so happy with MS who are giving it a go.

    Please by all means comment on Linux in your post - what do you think, winner or loser in 2015 ?

    I think loser,
    I believe the great weakness of Linux is fragmentation, too many distros, environments, file managers, and 2015 was same old same old in that regard.

    USA still the best. But barely.
    People are not going to stop expressing themselves. When somethings free one can't ask for their money back.
