That's just what I said. After all these years of the OS supposedly being problematic M$ now chooses to apprise users?! It sounds suspiciously like fear-mongering to scare Windows 7 users who remain loyal to the OS to upgrade to Windows 10. They employed the same fear tactic with XP to get users to upgrade to Windows 8.

All who bought a license for Windows 7 should claim a refund, for a product not inline with the quality standards.

This started this with Skype. I was using Skype on a Nokia Symbian phone and had an older version of Skype for Windows installed. MS first disabled Skype 3.X and when you tried to log on, you got a message that there was a security issue with that version and you had to upgrade. I looked into my router log and found that the message came from one of the Skype subdomains, blocked that subdomain, and found that Skype would logon again. This was a couple of years before MS officially "retired" the older versions of Skype. When they did that, they made sure they wouldn't work so instead of a modest 3mb program, users were forced to use a 40mb version bloated with ads that didn't work half as well. Instead of a reliable Symbian version, there was a flaky Android version that didn't even ring half the time so there were voicemails instead of calls.

They did a similar approach with Xp and spread paranoia that went way beyond the actual security issues of Xp which can be a secure OS if set up right. Now they aren't even waiting for the end of support for 7 to do the same for it. BS is right. Adoption of Windows 10 is slowing in spite of being a free "upgrade" which should tell them something. Stability is important to a lot of people, business people among them and forced updates that uninstall software without even asking and come with drivers that don't work are not always welcome to those who do real work with computers.

I'll admit, I pretty much bought the XP line. Use it in VMs these days and that's all. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, well, ^&*#@(^$ not gonna happen.

At the least the article said that what Microsoft is saying is wrong. Having said that, until you have to start paying to upgrade to Windows 10, I'll continue to upgrade any Windows 7 computers I have to Windows 10. But, that's becuase I personally prefer Windows 10. Not due to any security concerns, or any scaremongering from Microsoft.

"Microsoft Marketing chief" - that explains it all. That's just marketing talk, it has nothing to do with "reality".

As extended support for Win7 SP1 ends January 14, 2020, I'd suggest Microsoft to start working to solve those security problems that Chris Capossela supposedly identified in their OS.

Utter BS. It's just another ploy to get Win 7 users like myself to upgrade to Win 10. They have no chance, whatever they say I will choose the system I run on MY computer. End of.

Im on Windoof 10 and may need to reinstall after 2 months again due to a stupid Bluetooth device issue that may be the culprit of my constant network crashes.

^^And thats what MS calls a good OS :/

All my compliments for Microsoft reliability and for their marketing strategies, very astute :D. Anyway, they haven't reason to be worried: all Windows users know that it is not sure, and we are used to arrange personally our security. :argh::argh:

As soon as I read the title of this thread I knew it was BS. M$ so transparent, and I'm sure they think they're being clever, idiots.
