I see on Heimdal's site that they are promoting their "2nd generation Heimdal Security products". After following recent posts, however, I think I will pass on the update for now.
Good one! It's a pleasure for me to answers all your questions and help with anything that I can. Sorry I haven't been around here much, but I'm catching up to all the posts right now.
We have not left, sorry for the very late answer. In all honesty, I've checked my notifications weekly, but nothing came through on my profile. I'm going through all the posts right now and will reply to every single one of them. Thank you for your patience and sorry if I didn't manage to get them in time. It's been an incredibly intense month for us as well, but we're doing our absolute best to help everyone in any way we can. Thank you!
Hello! Thank you for understanding and for your patience. This was indeed our first attempt at a beta testing program, and, as all things in life, it did not go entirely according to plan. We have kept everyone who registered for the program in the loop as much as we could, while also making the most of our resources to enhance the product and make V2 as good as possible. However, there is always a way to make things better and that's what our mission is every single day. We've learnt a lot from this beta program attempt and are certainly thankful for your interest. We acknowledge our responsibility to be transparent and offer as much information as we can, which is what I'm trying to catch up to right now. Thanks, Andra
Hi Jeam, I honestly wish I had more time to be active here on a daily basis. However, I can't always do that, but I try to be as helpful as possible. Thank you for understanding!
Hi there! If you could please send me a PM to let me know what your email address is, I'd really appreciate it. I've replied to every email I got in my inbox and I'm just hoping I didn't miss yours. Thank you, Andra
We're working on improving the migration process as fast as we can. In the meanwhile, you can still rely on Heimdal, the first version, of course. And please contact us at support@heimdalsecurity.com for any questions you may have. Thank you for your patience!
While I can't offer direct technical support here (I'm not the one who handles this and I'm afraid I wouldn't be of much help), you can always contact my colleagues from support at support@heimdalsecurity.com for more answers and information. Thank you for understanding, Andra
Hi Jeam, We've also updated our product pages, which state that the new Heimdal PRO is compatible with Win 10, 8.1, 8, 7 and XP. We don't support Vista anymore. Thanks, Andra
Thank you, Pete! We appreciate your feedback and everyone else's, of course, and we're working to integrate it and make using Heimdal a better experience every day. Your patience and trust is something we appreciate dearly! Andra
Hello, First of all, sorry we didn't manage to send the promised rewards in time. I'm not trying to offer a justification, but our resources were all taken up by the release of the second version of the process and the consequent adjustments and other processes that followed suit. We will email you all the details and send you the rewards as soon as possible and we will also share why this delay happened. It's been a learning experience for us and we are sorry that we didn't manage to offer a better experience throughout the program. We are very thankful of the fact that you're spending time sharing your thoughts on the product and your experience related to it, no matter if it's positive or negative feedback. We learn from it no matter what it is and we appreciate your involvement and interest. We will get back to you very soon. Thank you, Andra
Hi everyone, I just wanted to post this for everyone on the thread to see, aside from the individual replies. First of all, thank you for spending your time and energy to share your thoughts and experiences with Heimdal, be it the old version or the new one. I know your time and attention are valuable and we do not take them for granted, no matter what the nuance of the feedback is. The beta testing program management was far from ideal, but we learnt from this experience and will reward those who signed up, just like we promised. We hope to be able to do this again someday, the right way, since your feedback is a big driver of change and improvement. It's always a challenging process to launch a new version of the product, as the intricacies go far and wide and there are many things to manage. But our end goal is the same: to offer a good, reliable product you can trust. I do realize that we may have lost some of your trust and maybe some of you feel let down and we're truly sorry for that. It is our mission to make it up to you and to work together with the entire team to make Heimdal behave the way you expect it to. There is always room for improvement in all things, be it the product, communication, features and so on. These are words we live by and we appreciate that you've accepted our input in this conversation and this community. I wish I could offer more technical details, but I'm not trained for that, so please contact us at support@heimdalsecurity.com for questions, issues with V2 or anything else you'd like to know. Excuse my temporary absence from the forum - it was not on purpose and we're definitely not giving up on this conversation that has helped us learn so much. I will keep as close of an eye on the post here as possible, and try to devote time as I can. I am confident that we will be able to help you enjoy the new Heimdal PRO to the standards you expect in the coming weeks/months, so please bear with us as we do our very best to help you keep safe online. The intelligence behind the product is as sound as ever, and you can see that from the security alerts we frequently publish. Thank you again for your time and patience, Andra
Hi Andra - Bogdan at support mentioned you would be publishing a release history / changelog page for Heimdal Pro 2.0. This will help us check when some key issues are addressed. Will you let us know when this page is available?
Hi Paul, Indeed, we will. I will share this page as soon as we have, but I couldn't share on ETA on it at the moment. However, please count on me to post the update when we do have the changelog. Thanks, Andra
Hi Andra Glad to hear back from you. You will find the users here, will be tough, but fair and understanding. This is indeed a good group, to help you make your product the best it can be. Thanks, Pete
Hi Pete, This is all anyone could ever ask for, which is why I wanted to express my gratitude to everyone who got involved and continues to do so. Thank you, Andra
Hi Andra, Welcome back! Glad to have you participating in the conversation once again. Regarding the quote above: Sorry to hear about this. I have Heimdal Pro version 1 on my main system, which is Vista. Can I trust it not to try to update itself to the unsupported version 2?
Hi Jeam, We will automatically migrate users from V1 to V2 at some point, but after ironing out the issues discussed here regarding the patching module. There are still a couple of months left before this happens, although I couldn't share an exact date when this will happen. As it happens with all products, the transition period will end, and, in this case, it will happen next year. If you'd like to know exactly when, you can PM me your email address and I can email you personally before this happens, so you can decide what you want to do next. Thanks, Andra
Hi Andra, Thanks for the invitation to PM, but I'll just wait for the migration to happen. I'm still having a hard time understanding technically how Heimdal Pro could work both on the OS just before Vista (XP) and on the OS just after Vista (Windows 7), but not on Vista itself. This is too bad because I was looking forward to using Heimdal Pro as part of my layered defense as Vista approaches the end of extended support from Microsoft -- in the same way as no doubt some XP users will continue to rely on Heimdal Pro as part of their own defense-in-depth for that EOS operating system.
Hi Jeam, I'd be more than happy to help, but my technical knowledge can only take my so far. I'm sure that my colleagues from support (support@heimdalsecurity.com) can help provide a detailed answer for this situation.
