    @Stupendous
    Many thanks!
I understand what you are saying with regards to installing two different products depending on the requirements. Then again, being a non-expert end-user, there is always this, say, 'uncertainty' as to what product best to use as an addition to a readily installed AV product..
I am using EIS which I consider to be an outstanding product.

This 'doubt / uncertainty' might be eliminated if the products were available as 1 all-in, and either module (e.g. Alert) will come into action where applicable.

I believe there is no side-by-side comparison of features and likely it is not possible to make such a comparison list.
Therefore it is a bit difficult to figure out what one may be missing when selecting either one of the two based on an existing AV product,
i.e. what would be the best combo...EIS+HMP, or EIS+HMPA..? (whilst uninstalling, deactiving MBAM)

Have you read SurfRight's HMP and HMPA documentation, yet?
HitmanPro offers no realtime protection, but it is a second opinion malware scanner, an on demand scanner.
    See http://www.surfright.nl/en/HitmanPro
HitmanPro.Alert, on the other hand, offers exploit mitigation and several risk reduction techniques.
At the HMPA page, there is info regarding HMPA, including a comparison with similar security software like EMET, MBAE and Traps.
    See http://www.surfright.nl/en/alert
If you'd like more info regarding HitmanPro.Alert, I think you could better post in the HitmanPro.Alert thread.

For the past almost three months, just before the switch to the Classifying screen, these two VBR items are reported:

    HMP-VBRhits.jpg

EEK, MBAM, ZAM and BDIS2016 all pronounce my system OK.

googling HitmanPro "Volume Boot Record" returns loads of "ADDED: Detection and removal of Volume Boot Record (VBR) bootkits" announcements and even filtering that out returns no love.

•What's with those two HMP finds?

    Thank you.

Those are not finds but are just queued to be scanned. If not scanned, it has no determination of good/bad.

    Erik,
I have had some troubles with browsers losing web access after installing HMPA alongside Sophos (both the paid and the free home beta) is this a known issue ?

I am still having this problem. It is set to scan daily at 09h00 daily, but scans at boot also.
I have tried setting it to scan at boot, then setting it back again to the daily schedule.
    Also tried uninstalling, reinstalling.
I see there is a hmpsched.exe process, could it be there is some 'sticky' registry key I can (un)tweak?
@erikloman @markloman or any techies out there, any suggestions how to kill the scan at boot?

OK. It seems those not-finds didn't go away is because I disabled "Automatically upload..." in Settings. I do that because you offer no method for users to specify file and folder exceptions which is the main reason why I don't buy HMP. Great free product, tho.

    Thanks for the fast reply.

Will there by a version of HMP with real time protection?

Or will real time protection only be available together with Sophos software?

I hope not! HMP.A does already offer real-time protection.

    Nope.
I was asking about HMP, not HMP.A

HMP.A does not offer real time protection.
It offers pro active protection against exploits.

I am aware you were asking about HMP. I am aware of what Alert does and by definition, it does offer real-time protection.

Obviously my definition of "real time protection" is other than yours.

    So I'm asking the developers:

Will there be real time protection in further HMP versions?

Will there be further versions of HMP?

I have no intention to argue semantics with you, or to go further off topic, but I just want to say that HMP.A offers signatureless protection in real-time = real-time protection. No, it's not an antivirus / antimalware program, which I'm guessing you would like SurfRight to produce.

I have a new computer with Windows 10 and Hitman Pro 3 gets stuck at 99% (classifying). Is there a way anyone knows of to get past this?

Try disabling Remnant Scan under settings.

I have a computer running Win 10 and HitmanPro 3.7.12 Build 253 x64 will not allow me to activate 'Scan with HitmanPro' under the "Shell Integration" menu. Is there a way to fix this?

Have you installed HMP only recently?
There's a 'double' installation procedure. Perhaps you missed that?
First when you run HMP you are able to run a scan, but the program is not installed, yet. "Scan with HitmanPro" cannot be enabled in the shell Integration menu, as the program is not installed, yet.
After the first run you will be offered to install the program, and after installing, now "Scan with HitmanPro" can be enabled in the shell Integration menu.

HitmanPro v3.7.12 b253 Settings->Advanced offers a box where users can enter their Virustotal API key (in case they have an account with Virustotal).

    Build 189 (2013-02-25)
ADDED: VirusTotal API key is now embedded so it is no longer needed to register an account.
    Build 137 (2011-12-23)
NEW: Added third opinion scan using VirusTotal.
To use this feature you enter your personal VirusTotal Public API Key on the Advanced tab under Settings.

My 'public API key' wouldn't work.
Assume the box is for a private API key only then?

b.t.w. I am not sure whether this feature is explained in the Hitman Pro - user manual.
The information about settings is relatively limited.

Would anybody out there, running the following this combination

    Windows 10 x64 Pro 10586.36
    HitmanPro v3.7.12 bld 253 x64
    HitmanPro.Alert v3.1.0 bld 344

pls help and look into their eventlog (eventviewer.msc)
for event 6005,6006 (The Event log service was started/The Event log service was stopped)
and/or event 12,13 (The operating system started at system time/The operating system is shutting down at system time )

with me, after installing HMP products on 19/12 these entries were missing.
I re-installed a windows image yesterday (image dtd 15/12), installed HMP/HMPA and today, after entirely shutting down my pc,
the event shows a start only, no stop. (no event 6006)

Checking further I found event 6003
(The winlogon notification subscriber <SessionEnv> was unavailable to handle a critical notification event.)
    See: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc734006(v=ws.10).aspx
Event ID 6003 — Windows Logon Availability

As said, this error started on dec.19 immy after install HMP and HMPA and it is coming up again now.
This could be a coincidence and may not have anything to to with HMP

    Question:
Appreciate if some of you could check this out.

    Thanks!

Has anyone seen a slowdown with Skype or slower delivery of messages as a result of installing HMPA ?
