    Hi Everyone

As I understand it Spyshelter free encrypts keystrokes. So does it mean that when, for example, I type in a password or user name that the words and letters are scrambled like Keyscrambler does?

The reason I ask this is that currently when I type in a login name it is not scrambled ie what you type is what you see. I have Spyshelter free installed on Win 7 SP1

    Thanks

    Terry

It will encrypt your keystrokes but only in certain applications. This is configurable with the paid version, or if you use the Free Version this is available in pretty much every browser by default.

However, another very important feature SpyShelter contains is the HIPS, which is on high (allow) by default. This means too that it will prompt you if any program, even a Windows process attempts to capture keystrokes. And will explicitly say what the program is trying to access, and includes a link to Virus Total.

Yes, it works the same as KS, and it's normal that you still get to see your username, because it will encrypt keys in the background so that other apps can not log them. It's not supposed to hide input from your eyes. Like already has been said, SS Free only encrypts browsers, unlike Zemana Free, but I guess you didn't have much luck with it.

Hi rasheed and K1W1Mike, which is a pity

Thank you for your input, it was very helpful. @ Rasheed no I could not get Zemana to work even by handing my machine to their technicians online control. Which is a pity, so I installed Spyshelter, which because of the HIPS is a bit more "chatty" than I would wish.

As a matter of interest do you have a preference between the two Free versions and why?

    Thank you so much.

I've never used Zemana Free, but it offers protection against banking trojans, plus it encrypts keystrokes for all apps, while SS Free doesn't. About SS Free, you can probably turn off the HIPS, if you don't need it.
