As always there's no changelog, so I don't know if there are any fixes or if it's another update to reset the trial expiration...

Well then thanks at any rate for the heads up on this newest release. It's always been a solid performer on this end going back to XP

Appreciate the new heads up. Contrary to multiple solutions i always have and still find that old trusty DS continues to do the job and with complete accuracy as it always is seemed to perform to expectation without a single fail. Thats saying a lot for a tiny backup app without bells n whistles that only get in the way.

Wonder if anything changed. I agree it's a great little app. Only issue for me is restore is sooooo slow.

That's because Pete you're always in a hurry to get immediate things done an hour ago :p

    Lets see:

    151 gb system drive

    Macrium RDR restore 2-4 minutes
    Macirum Full restore 18-19 minutes
    ShadowProtect restore 20 minutes
    Acronis 2016 restore 18 minutes
    IFW restore 17 minutes
    Drive Snapshot restore 45 minutes.

    That is a huge difference.

And yes I don't see that point of wasting that time.

    Pete,

If you get a chance could you try an IFL restore of your IFW image. I've found IFL restores are faster than IFW restores (on my hardware).

Macrium most definitely 0wnz the time element. Just Wow! But in that respect it's easy to point out the difference, yes is true enough.

Actually that was an IFL restore. I have a winpe version of IFW, and it is significantly slower, but I don 't remember the time

Well, this Easeus 8, it was over 8 hours... So 45min seems acceptable, provided it doesn't happen often...

Using Windows Recovery disk with the drivers for my MB and USB 3 DS usually takes 16-18 minutes to backup to external USB HDD, size around 94 GB.

Then usually takes 18 - 24 minutes to restore with verification before restore.

The same way the backup was made with the 64 bit recovery disk for windows 7.

It was very important to load the drivers, before then it was taking over 2 hours for either backup or restore.

On my old machine with IDE drives adding the drivers went from 800K to almost 2G a minute from one internal drive to the other.

So it is essentially a DOS recovery. Frankly that scares me with two identical disks, it bothers me trying to be sure I am accurately restoring to the correct drive

Done some testing today restore without the drivers took over an hour.

Worked at USB 2.0 speeds, and no customizations for the motherboard (Chipset) makes a significant difference.

Not a real problem for me as long as the partitions are labeled.

DS loads a GUI when ran from a recovery disk.

Just be sure you run the correct version of DS for X64 or X86 from the recovery disk.

I used an ISO editing program to copy both versions to the recovery disk as well as the drivers.

Well the executables do show a (slight) size change from the prior build. :doubt:
