Funny thing is the reason given for killing off Internet Security and creating Total Security Essentials was to make updating easier as both allegedly used the same base. Guess that was rubbish.

I would say that posting a new version of something is, for me, a tremendous help, brings focus/attention to that particular event that [usually] is very important.
Bot or real, for me, his/it's contribution is/should be well received here. :thumb:

You mean despite the programs having built in auto updating? And now just posting that there is updates is not helpful and just smacks of being desperate for attention.

Sure there is auto updating. For those who have issues, their problems could be included in the bugfix. So, you know, the sooner, the better.
It is a good thing to post something is new. For those that care for stuff like that. It is useful and informative at the same time.
Everyone is trying to contribute in their own way, I see absolutely no problem with that.

Yes because they are going to be checking a forum to see if their are new versions rather than say the makers website or a dedicated updating site like FileHippo. The fact that @Mops21 hasn't even responded says a lot.

Believe it or not, it actually is. When there is a new threat discovered, it is easier to update program algorithms for handling that stuff.
As for bugfixes, not all bugs are replicable in TS and ES, as ES is bare minimum, as Total is a suite that will get expanded with functionality over time.
So, one module that causes problems present in Total cannot do the same with ES if it's not there at all.
Also, the thing with Qihoo, is that they work a little bit different than the rest. What I mean by that is that they are not in a hurry to release something half cooked,
but take their time for something they do. If they did, they would go down the same route as Symantec, Avira, etc... deleting system files causing boot failure due to bad QA.
    That's how stuff basically works.
I do not wish to challenge your opinion. But, FYI, I found update for new version from another website unlike filehippo, which acts as a forum, also from a contributor, made the same thing as @Mops21 so, I see nothing wrong from him.
I believe, if you think he has vioalted forum policy, or acted inapropriately [spelling?], maybe there should be a dispute with a moderator who will handle this thing, got it sorted out, and let this thread continue the way it... well, what we basically do here is talk, discuss and talk some more.

    My opinion:
360TS is there flagship, where they put everything, they can.
They have to update and bug fix it more often, because more functions means more bugs...

I guess 360TS is the playground of the developers, while they lost there target, the average (chinese) user.

I really don't like bloated software, especially when it comes to security software.
More functions = more bugs and more chances to mess the configuration and decide wrong...

I will never ever install 360TS on customers, or friends machines, but will and do install 360TSE.
It is just right, as it is, including the sandbox.
The only thing I'm missing is the German translation.

Mops21 posts new versions NOT just for 360 products, but for other vendors products as well on their products respective threads. I don't see anything wrong with that, it just reminds people that a new version has come out. i.e. some people might be interested in knowing for they might have tried a product then dropped it for some reason. (but the vendor could be more specific in listing what the major bugfixes are!)

As I said before, different users have different preferences so both 360TS and 360 Essential should be kept updated, and if possible the developer should update them at the same time when the update contents are applicable to both products.

Personally I like that the changelogs are posted here. I never visit the 360 website.

To prevent false positives caused by the QVM engine, I've disabled outgoing connections from qhactivedefense.exe in my firewall.

This prevents QVM to check the cloud. Now, I never get any false positives from 360 during scans :)

@GakunGak - I noticed that if I select a specific folder from exclusion during a custom scan, sometimes 360 will still scan that folder.

Can you let 360 know about this? Tested with the latest version of 360 TSE.

Do have in mind that is a severily crippled protection and Qihoo cannot be responsible in case of failed protection.
A much better approach would be to follow a link in my sig and report false positives.

    Noted, thanks for reporting this.

Yeah, I'm aware, but I'm a pretty experienced user that rarely goes on iffy sites.

I would strongly suggest sandboxing the browser nevertheless, or couple with comodo cloud antivirus with auto sandboxing unknown files. Just in case.

Now Firefox is also 64bit but the 360 TS security plugin is not supported.

Thank you for reporting, on it.

Still working on "extensionless/pluginless" web protection though, no dice so far...

    Clarification, please, thank you?

"Added: 360 Connect - Assist Friends & Family Anytime Anywhere"

Is this like a "chat" feature? If so, does it send logs to 360 or keep logs on the computer?

It looks like it allows you to check the status of the computer via a smartphone and preform scans remotely. Also lets you chat with the person. I am not sure if it keeps logs or not. I would hope Qihoo adds remote assistance from another computer in addition to a phone.
