uMatrix dashboard and Chrome. A non incognito windows spawns up when wanting to change uMatrix settings. I use incognito mode in Chrome most times. And private window in Firefox. What has always been is that when i want to go to uMatrix dashboard, a new non incognito window for the settings change will open. It does not happen in Firefox. It does not happen with uBlock Origin in either browsers, when going to it's settings (dashboard). I thought that maybe something is in my Chrome uMatrix settings. But no, I backup'ed them to a file and restored them to Firefox uMatrix. I could not reproduce the new non private window opening thing in Firefox. Is this only with my Chrome?
Hi guys. I have a specific question regarding making a rule to block a Flash cookie on a site. There are 2 requests in the other section for the site, one I want to block the other I want to allow. I've already read the uMatrix wiki on github. Is this the best place to ask or is there some other forum that would be more appropriate?
Regarding my wish list feature for making global whitelists in this post: https://www.wilderssecurity.com/thre...e-a-script-blocker.380303/page-2#post-2531448 I thought back, not too deep and thinking it might maybe not work as easy as I first thought. Might be a good alternative if the top left cell selecting global * scope would be temporary and immediately after changing the browsed site, the scope selector would be back to domain scope or the site level scope depending on what it was before. If that is possible. Or after pressing the padlock to have saved the global rule. Would make it less possible to mess ones global rules accidentally that way. I know I have done that with even knowing how uMatrix works.
Hi, When using umatrix without changes to the matrix (fresh install) video materials and some image materials are blocked (show as empty boxes on the page). I have tried various changes to the matrix but end up in a muddle. Is there a simple setting that would restore video and image access for all sites on the web? If there are side effects regarding security and privacy, please comment. Thanks.
Thanks for your speedy response. I should have formulated my query more clearly. When I do a normal google search for say 'isis' or 'science & tech news' it produces a lot of sites with video material that I would like to see, say on cnn or new scientist. Do the rulesets mentioned by you enable this? Github and plain tv do not interest me that much. Isn't there a simple setting or set of rules that translate to 'video=on' for all sites? And actually, if possible, I would love to block contact with both facebook and youtube completely (not just video/images) and never encounter any web references to them. Same thing for twitter. Are there rulesets that do this?
@yeswellnofine First of all, uMatrix is definitely for advanced users. Nope It's possible via matrix (from popup) using scopes or rules, but you have to read the wiki and learn how to use them properly. Walkthrough for first time users Rules syntax Per-scope switches
The article indicates uBlockO is also blocked, but I just tried going there and there's no redirection in my case (medium mode). The author should do a little more research before spreading disinformation.
You may have the latest version of "uBlock filters", in which I added an inline script tag filter to prevent the redirection code from executing (the article was right at time of writing). However I see Bild added another snippet of JS code to warn that JS should be enabled (just my speculation, I don't read German), so I just added another inline script tag filter to prevent that warning as well.
Very nice addon. A suggestion. Add right click mouse (somewhere on matrix) > Reload the page. Maybe as an optional feature: chrome://umatrix/content/dashboard.html > Settings > Convenience: [ ] Right click mouse on matrix to Reload the page.
Maybe faster and more convient? With this request you could allow something and instantly right click and reload (especially with a long 3rd party-list). Not going up and down with your mouse again and again to the roload-button at the top of the matrix-screen.
The word "Request" is forbidden around these parts, unless you wish to get a Death Stare from the developer.
Checking github/gorhill I see several requests. (https://github.com/gorhill/uBlock/issues). I'll change it to 'Suggestion'...
Hi, I have Firefox 42.0. I think I have an issue with uMatrix: if I change some settings on Youtube website like volume, annotations on/off, autoplay on/off etc... and then open a new video, all my settings go back to default. I have both uMatrix and uBlock and in uMatrix I have enabled all the following options: https://cloud.githubusercontent.com/assets/4366877/11559316/2c33e04a-99b8-11e5-86e9-a535e59aa65e.png https://cloud.githubusercontent.com/assets/4366877/11559317/2c651c82-99b8-11e5-9689-4a183176b303.png Is it an issue or a normal behaviour according to the uMatrix options I have enabled? In this last case, what feature does it make that behaviour? Thanks.
This is most probably caused by your strict settngs. Try disabling the first and last settings in your first screenshot (Cancella cookies + Spoof user-agent...).
The only reason why I am not using umatrix is because of it not supporting auto-refresh (it used to). Is there anyway that I can make it auto-refresh? Or is there any talk about bringing it back? I just can't get used to it not refreshing automatically. EDIT: Perhaps giving us a keyboard-shortcut for refreshing the page would be awesome. Perhaps R when umatrix is opened for refreshing? Would that be something easy to do?
There is some thing called per-site switches, and one of the option it has is to disable per-site UA Spoofing. Look here for more information..
I believe Raymond removed it as it causes more issues to maintain than the convenience it provides. I am not using uMatrix these days. I think you can simply click "Ctrl + F5" to reload the page, when the uMatrix Pane is open and it will remain open..
