Just saw it on comss.ru http://www.comss.ru/page.php?id=2736 Free for up to 10 Home PCs. Downloading it.
Awesome! https://www.sophos.com/en-us/lp/sophos-home.aspx https://home.sophos.com/reg https://home.sophos.com/relnotes
I registered for an account, and got the message below in my email. The problem is there is no button to click on lol What the heck! I wonder if my email provider is blocking it somehow. Thank you for creating a Sophos Home account. Before you can start protecting computers in your home you need to confirm that you created this account. Click the button below to confirm your email:
Maybe using an ad blocker or something? Try a different browser. I was able to click the button, though I have not installed the software yet. Still debating. If I recall, Sohpos has a mediocre history, and is a bit heavy.
Installed and I like it so far. On the AMTSO desktop solutions test, it passed everything but the phishing test, and on the download compress malware test Sophos either blocked or on demand scan detected everything except for the ACE format.
I will try it in internet explorer, and see what happens. I already tried disabling my adblockers which is uBlock Origin, and Ghostery.
Using internet explorer did not help. I guess it must be an issue with Zoho blocking the button. I will keep looking in my mail options to see if I can unblock it somehow.
So far so good. It's RAM hungry, but I don't feel any slowdowns. I think they should put all the options in the admin's version AND on the dashboard. To exclude a file now, I must open a browser every time. A bit inconvenient.
Lets say welcome among the free coming soon Kaspersky free AV, Mcafee cloud free and now Sophos home. Their endpoint protection is very good, so if it has the same protection level you will be good https://www.av-test.org/en/antivirus/business-windows-client/ https://www.av-test.org/en/antiviru...os-endpoint-security-and-control-10.3-153302/
I agree. And it's great to see more free offerings from the larger competitors. Long term, this is also better for the paid users as well because, keep in mind, these free solutions are quite likely to provide community telemetry information on new threats and so on. I am not generally a fan of antivirus software, however I do realize that this is good news in general especially for the everyday folks who need these tools on their systems. I am curious to see Kaspersky Free and McAfee Free progress further and see how everything comes together in time.
If this is a "clone" of the free Mac version, I would forget about it. http://www.tomsguide.com/us/sophos-antivirus-mac-home-edition,review-2345.html
I was hoping Sophos would provide free protection for windows without needing to install their utm on a spare pc. . the web interface is quite limited atm but I am sure that will change.
Yes I'm allergic to this, that's why I also don't use Avira for example, it's ridiculous how bloated AV's are nowadays.
@ghodgson @Rasheed187 To be fair, an increased number of services used doesn't necessarily mean a greater impact on system performance.
Seems about as light on the system as Defender 10, using on a windows 10 machines. Overall I like it, somewhat like Forticlient without the programed scans and large updates. Web filter seems decent and a nice way to control where your computer goes when you're not around ( or have children using it) . Trying on 2 machines at the moment and all is fine, nice in the way you can administer both or more machines via the web . Using about 197 MB lots of smaller services, they seem like AVG's many services however to have no effect on the performance of the computers. To me sort of like Defender with a web filter.
Good Evening! Just installed Sophos...so far very reponsive...no lags...or bloat factor...it's all good. Two questions for all you Sophisticates...1) Is there Banking Browser Protection contained within the Web Filter? 2) Is there a Scan setting for a Quick Scan...or is it Full Scan Only? And is their anyway to X Out of the Home Dashboard while running a Scan? I know it's a Beta Product...but maybe a Sophos System Sophisticate can come to Wilders to address our Concerns! Sincerely...Securon
Sure many services, but it's actually running light on my Windows 10 64 bit machine. I use to nitpick over services myself, but as long as it's light I don't mind now. Don't need web browser extensions with Sophos either, and a lot of the main stream antivirus use browser extensions.
Good to have another set and forget alternative to Bitdefender Free. Clearsight AV free uses the Sophos engine without the web filter.I just wonder how the detection rates differ ? Regards Eck
