Geek Wars, Episode 2: A New Hope. This is a second review of the BQ Aquaris E4.5 Ubuntu Phone after six months of use and a successful Ubuntu Phone 15.04 r25 operating system upgrade, covering new look & feel, improvements in stability, speed, responsiveness, and gestures, new features, home screen and applications, maps, battery life, Bluetooth connectivity, some persisting problems, suggestions for improvement, and more. Well worth a second [sic] chance. Enjoy.

This will never go anywhere without a robust app store.

USA still the best. But barely.
Wouldn't that be a natural progression of Ubuntu/Linux repositories?

The mobile market is vastly different from the desktop and server market. Canonical has been at this for years without any success.

No carrier in the US offers this phone and since I am in the US my remarks pertain to that market. There is a phone available here that supports 2g speeds only on T-Mobile and AT&T. The reviews for the US model have been dismal. Why they even released a phone that only supports speeds from 8 years ago is a mystery.

Paid apps and apps for things like banking and navigation are written by developers working for those businesses not by Canonical and the first thing they want to know is how many users am I writing this app for. Right now in the US that number is pretty lose to zero.

Amazon's Fire phone is off the market and they pumped a lot of money into that before admitting defeat.
