I have noticed "Are you looking for information about the latest updates?" in the Windows Update settings after today's cumulative update on my Win 10 machine. Funny thing is that it opens Bing search with the search query "check for updates in windows 10". It is pretty hilarious. I would expect it will take you to MS support page or so but definitely not to Bing search. It smacks of amateurism.

Installing build 10586 through Windows update on a work machine right now for testing. I hope these antivirus vendors are prepared. In my testing with the advanced insider copy (same build) most of them are broken somehow.

I'd be interested to know how long the update takes on your system. I have it in process on my laptop now and it's been running for over an hour. It seems to be progressing normally, but people shouldn't expect it to be quick.

My updates are set to Automatic, my computer is on for a while now. Does the major WIN10 update start on it's own?

Just finished upgrading to Win 10 Pro version 1511, 10586 through Win updates.

It took me well over an hour. First the download.

Then the install. Then the reboot with the percentages.

Which then reboots to an update window with the big update circle with percentages for the update of files, update of drivers and then configuring settings. It reboots 2 or 3 times inbetween.

Then the final reboot which says things like 'We've updated your PC' 'All your files are where you left them' 'We've got some new feature' etc etc etc. Then they remember to tell you not to turn off the PC (possibly because the words are on screen so long you might think it has frozen )

Everything works although I had to reboot to get Voodooshield to work and my Wifi wireless adapter.

Emsisoft and sandboxie had no problems at all.

Watch out for a device installer in taskbar after reaching desktop,( for me it was installing sound devices)

I've had it take an hour to 2, depending on the machine. And a VM that ran longer, but I had to leave it overnight so I don't know how long. Probably at least 3 hours.

Also, a machine I just had it downloading on stopped and now it says no updates available. I hope there aren't any issues with it.

Only one of my machines is updating. The other says it is up to date. I thought it may be phased released to some machines first, others later. We will see.

I had to ask it to look for updates as it said it was up to date.

I have checked about four times and the update isn't offered yet on one machine. The other is almost finished.

On the updated machine I checked for updates and downloaded a security patch for IE11.

Speccy was uninstalled for some reason. Windows said it wasn't compatible but I've just reinstalled it. Had the same issue when I first upgraded from Windows 7.

I suggest that anyone who has updated to go through their settings as I found my privacy settings changed. Also, IE 11 Privacy settings.

Is there a way to force this update? I don't see/get it either (at this point in time)

A lot of things get changed back to defaults. Fast startup gets turned back on. File types that have been changed to open with different programs (images, PDFs, etc.) get changed back.

Thanks for the heads up. I had to make Firefox the default again. I hope they will preserve default settings going forward. It's just another problem for folks who don't know how to make these changes.
