I don't know why they'll stop supporting Windows Vista one year before Microsoft will stop it's extended support. I know that there are not many users using it but I believe other browsers will support it longer.
What is the % usage of xp now adays? Was it not the second most popular windows OS after windows 7 when MS dropped support last april?
Google cuts off Chrome updates on Windows XP and Vista http://www.computerworld.com/articl...f-chrome-updates-on-windows-xp-and-vista.html
No sense. Win vista , 7 share same general code. How they drop vista if it have similar fuction with 7?
Not really. As a software developer, we find that things do not necessarily work the same across different OSes. A LOT of software no longer supports Vista. Some vendors dropped it before they did XP. We dropped it a year ago, no complaints from anyone. I doubt the 3 people still using Vista will miss Chrome much. It is beyond time to move on.
Yeah, but my mom is one of those three people lol! I'm gonna have to wean her onto Firefox. Let's face it, Firefox and Chrome look similar enough. I downloaded Firefox onto her laptop, she doesn't know much about computers, I set it up for her and imported her bookmarks from Chrome. She said: "It looks just like Chrome, will I still be able to watch the iPlayer?".
Well i thought that the great differences in oses was: Win98--->Winxp--> Winvista Winvista, 7,8,10 in base code have similarities.
Yeah, Firefox could replace Chrome pretty easily as far as functionality and appearance. I didn't mind Vista at the time but I dumped it the day 7 came out (6 years ago) and never looked back.
Many things have changed since Vista. UAC for one example. We have also had issues with Microsoft Office automation that do not appear on other version of Windows, even with the same version of Office. There are other things, but I've not got time to go over them at the moment.
I thought Vista was inherently buggy, but it looked nice. I still think it's a little odd Google dropping Chrome support for Vista though, even though I can see their reasoning.
Nah, most any new software available now does not support Vista. Not enough people using it to justify the time spent for development and testing. Some things will work but it is not officially supported by the vendor. Other things just refuse to install. Vista is a worse place to be than XP right now. Apple's Vista bashing was very successful in stopping a lot of people from ever using it.
Vista is the most visually pleasing OS I ever used. It was also far from being as bad as some (many) imbeciles made it out to be. Comparing with Win 10........ Vista was beautiful, period.
Google have changed their minds 3 times already about when they will drop support. I wouldn't bother making any decisions at this point with the supposed deadline so far away.
Yes, a fair few AV's don't work well with Vista these days. I don't run Vista myself now, but I haven't had any recent problems running anything on any Vista machines I've looked at (yet). Touch wood!
I agree. On few machines that I've reinstalled Vista I've had no problems with software supporting it. Usually MS is the first to drop support for their older OSs.
