Apples New update for the iPhone iOS 9.0.2 is in excess of 2GB What the Heck is included ? I've been downloading it via iTunes and it's telling me still 63mins remaining, and by no means do I have a slow connection.. Apple servers must be jammed. Also panicked like hell as after a auto reboot once I could not past the Apple screen and had to thoroughly force a hard reboot. just got the iPhone 6s 128GB and I was having kittens there for a while
I wonder if that has anything to do with it versus an OTA update (?). I have a 5s, did an OTA update for iOS 9, and that was around 1.2GB, IIRC. 9.0.1 was rather tiny, in comparison, and the OTA update I did for 9.0.2 was only around 60MB, again IIRC. It sort of sounds as if iTunes is downloading the latest version of iOS 9 (9.0.2) in its entirety rather than just the incremental update.
iTunes method for me was 1.5GB for iPhone 5, while OTA initially was something like half of that but was failing. Subsequent point releases have been around 25MB or so. Not too sure why iTunes method is larger though.
You piqued my curiousity. : - ) It's the way it's supposed to be. Found a discussion at ASC and explanation at OSX daily and at stackexchange - https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3044506?start=0&tstart=0 http://osxdaily.com/2012/01/12/how-to-use-ota-update-ios/ http://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/51975/ios-updating-ota-vs-itunes
Full iOS instead of incremental changes, that'll explain it, I prefer Full versions over upgrades anyway, In any event My 6s is fully operational without a hitch now
Android is not much better difference is your usually waiting months for an update or dont get it al all of Samsung or provider stops support. At least apple supports there phones for usually four years where you have Samsung and other Android phone makers stop updates after 1-2 years and usually updates come 3-4 months after the fact.
