Just a heads-up. Logitech last week put out a firmware update for most of it's newer gaming mice and keyboards. It is causing all types of problems for many users, particularly the G910 Top of The Line keyboard and mice.

For some users of the G910 it won't install, for some it prevents keys from illuminating, for some it won't allow the default blue backlight to be used and for some like me it totally disables the Logitech Gaming Software. When my PC is on I get a pop out on the top right corner saying that my G502 Mouse and G910 Keyboard needs a firmware update.

The first time it appeared and I clicked on it a window opened and said to disconnect and reconnect my keyboard to start the update process. This is the standard Logitech firmware update procedure. So I did so but nothing happened. I had to use Task Manager to get rid of the Update Window. Tried several times after hard restarts.

Now I get the same Notifications but no update window. When I open my Logitech Software GUI for both the mouse and keyboard panels there is a large gray colored outlined window blocking most of the GUI window that says "Your Mouse Needs a Critical Update" on the Mouse Panel and a similar window on the Keyboard Panel. (Logitech Gaming Software has one GUI for all installed Logitech Gaming Hardware, with separate panels for each.) Clicking on "Update" does nothing and access to the controls panel is locked until you Update , which you can't.

There are numerous threads on the Logitech Support Forum about the different issues peeps are having. It appears to be affecting users of Windows 7, 8.1,and 10-not sure about Mac.

The problem first appeared over the weekend so Support Tickets Opening a case were not seen until yesterday at the earliest. There has not yet been an acknowledgement or any word from Logitech and the issue remains.

BTW: The G910 Keyboard is amazingly fast. It uses all-new Logitech Romer-G™ mechanical switches that actuates at a distance of 1.5mm with low-force (45g)acctuation. Logitech claims it's 25% faster than any other keyboard. I don't know if that number is correct. All I know is that it is the fastest keyboard I have ever used by far.

It's not cheap, but at my age if you can buy a thrill for $160 USD it's worth it :)

I like the old stuff. In fact, I still have my Logitech MX 310 from 2002, or 2003, I don't even remember anymore.
My keyboard is from the same era too. And my skill, on Counter Strike, is far better than 99% of today's players with custom and expensive hardware :D Hell, I even use a cellphone and my notion in-game is the same as it will ever be. I have to keep recording my matches so that I have proof I don't use cheats, in case someone bans me from their server.

If I have to install "gaming software" for hardware to function than I consider both hardware and software to be a pile of junk.
Besides, most configuration can be done via Windows/Linux default hardware drivers and while in-game.
I never used such software, and probably never will.

Sorry, but I feel telling folks not to buy Logitech gaming hardware is a bit of an overreaction. A few people have had problems but that is not unusual when new updates are installed. I found zero recent reports of problems when searching with Google. The most recent was from last May. If this were a big issue, it would be much more widespread.

Do not relate the numbers found in Logitech's forums with the real-world. If you walk in a Toyota repair center, you will see a bunch of broken Toyotas. That does not mean Toyotas are bad or breaking down left and right.

I don't like the looks of the Logiteh G010 with those super wide keys and a slot for a cel phone, I bought a Corsair k95 RGB Mechanical keyboard.

And I've heard because the Corsair has those extra 18 G-keys jammed in there, all the other keys are too small! This is why I tell people they need to go play touchy feely with a keyboard before buying it and don't pay attention to what others are saying - except for things like build quality.

Well theCorsaiir18 G-keys are the same size as all the rest except the rest have the sides angled to hold the finger tip and the Logitech is made of cheap plastic where the Corsair is Brushed Black Aluminum and easy to keep clean.

Yes, but not as big as on other keyboards - and that was the point, no?

"Cheap" plastic? Something made of plastic does not automatically make it "cheap", or harder to clean. Metal is unforgiving and can more easily be permanently bent out of shape - not to mention scratched. It is the mechanics and electrical contacts underneath that matter and there is nothing to suggest the Logitech's are cheap in any way. Reviews would suggest it is all top quality - and point out the software used is top notch and very easy to program macros too. And the reviews I read pointed out that the large keys were actually very comfortable.

It is clear you like your Corsair, but that does not make it a superior keyboard.

I personally prefer how the letters/numbers of the Logitech's keys light up over the Corsairs simple backlighting. Now it really does not matter because I am not going to spend that kind of money for either.

Actually, they're the same size as any other keyboard.

Ummm, any other keyboard? I don't see how you can say that. There is no industry standard for keyboard key sizes (or shapes). I have a bunch of different keyboards here and they are all a little bit different.

For many years, my favorite keyboard was the A4Tech A-Shape Keyboard with parallelogram shaped keys.

There are large key keyboards, and there are small key compact keyboards.

The point is, they aren't "too small" like you said. I realize that's a subjective claim you made so I'll just say that they certainly aren't any smaller than any of the other high end keyboards I've used (WASD, Corsair, Razer, Logitech, Ducky, Pok3r).

I agree - they are not "too small" as might be seen on some "compact" keyboards. I was just following on the comment made earlier about the "looks" of the Logitech G910 keyboard and its "super wide" keys. It's all subjective, isn't it? I mean some folks are perfectly comfortable with the Blackberry keys.

That's why I said in post #5 above, that people "need to go play touchy feely with a keyboard before buying it and don't pay attention to what others are saying - except for things like build quality".

Before I plunked down my Hard earned money I did a little research I went to UTube and Looked at every video they had on the logitech G910, then I did the same for Corsair and Razer and read reviews for all a lot of them I think I Made the best decision For me, hardware's solid-software not so much but the software can be updated as it has .The software will continue to be updated as time goes by. The brightness of the lights are not that important as they are a distraction from gaming

The desire for fancy lights on keyboard (and cases) has always puzzled me. I don't get it. I understand an illuminated keyboard so you can use it in a darkened room, but I agree, too bright and it becomes a distraction. And too bright of a "back" light and it can obscure the labels on some keys. Rainbow effects with keyboards - okay, that does look cool. But coolness wears off after you've seen it a couple times. Or at least that is my "subjective" point of view.

As for fancy lights in cases, well, they do nothing for performance, add some heat, consume some power and do nothing for performance (worth repeating). I prefer my cases to sit quietly and discreetly off to the side and not draw attention to themselves so I can pay attention to what's happening on my monitors.

I agree with all you have said, the key cap light can be blocked by other things fortunately the key caps can be replaced easily as they are just pressed on.

It's not a true desire - like most everything else in our engineered want-created economy/society - it's an engineered desire accomplished by propaganda that causes one to believe that by owning something not needed he/she will be/feel better about him/herself ,euphemistically referred to as marketing. . But I admit that on many games the ability to make any key or set of keys a particular color and keep keys that are not used in the game not illuminated (color black) is a nice, but not necessary feature, cuz if you play the game a lot it's all done by feel. instinct and trained muscle memory/eye-hand coordination. If you need to look at the keyboard while playing it only means you are still a noob. But It is only occasionally useful if the placement of your hands shifts but it can make you insane if you want to chat during play. IMHO, what sets the G910 at a higher level than any other key board is it's speed and assuring feel of actuation. I think you could play a good game without touching the keyboard by using a can of Dust-Off, the striking distance is so short and the pressure needed to achieve it is very light, yet you get assuring feedback from the key.

If peeps are suggesting that the brightness of the illumination on the G910 can't be adjusted they need to take a closer look at the custom color wheel area. The lightness/darkness of each color can be adjusted so that while the color/hue remains the same its intensity appears to be brighter or darker. It's akin to being able to adjust the gamma of each key. The dumbest thing about the color control on the G10 is that there is no default color selection to the factory pre-set blue of the default all blue keyboard in setting the color of each key individually, if you want to have a default blue keyboard with only a few keys being different than the default all blue key setting. I challenge anyone to recreate the color of the factory color blue used in the default all blue colored keyboard by using the custom color control tools.

lol This is very true. And there is not necessarily anything wrong with wanting to "look" cool, refined, sophisticated, smart, successful, etc. It is when that vanity interferes with relationships that causes problems. Some folks are just more "practical" then others - and that's okay.
