HitmanPro.ALERT Support and Discussion Thread

Hi Markloman and Erikloman.
I am a new user of HitmanPro.Alert (trial version).
I find a problem in using it: the keystroke encryption function cannot work with Chinese Input Method.
I mean, when I try to use the build-in input method of Windows 8.1 to type in some Chinese characters, I just get gibberish.
I apologize if this problem has already been submitted by the other users.

By the way, according to your website, HitmanPro.Alert can make "sandbox-aware" malware self-terminate.
I am curious about how this feature works.
In particular, how would you identify whether a malware is "sandbox-aware" or not?
Would you use the virus signature database in your cloud to do it? Or use the trace of behavior collected in the real time?
What about the termination rate?

That is Kaspersky Exploit feature in 2016 is conflicting with HitmanPro Alert. Kaspersky is also conflicting with Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit. Malwarebytes tried to contact Kaspersky to try to help Kaspersky fix their bug problem but according to Malwarebytes they didn't reply back to their email. Malwarebytes had to fix their own program, their beta is now working with Kaspersky. Perhaps HitmanPro can contact Malwarebytes to figure out how to fix their problem but I can see business conflict interfering. Kaspersky 2015 work fine with either of the 2 anti-exploit program but Kaspersky 2015 isn't compatible with Windows 10. So users of paid security software are screwed out of using their premium softwares.

@Buddel: Its Kaspersky 2016 interfering with Hitmanpro Alert, Kaspersky anti-exploit update isn't playing well with MAE and HMPA

 

Yes, uninstalling KIS 2016 fixed the problem. KIS 2015 is compatible with windows 10, but only as from patch c. That version was separately available around the launch of win 10, as you couldn't install a fresh version on win 10 and let it update itself. Maybe that is a short term solution to address this problem. (or maybe get used to relying on the build-in Windows Defender of win 10 and HMA, but I'm not entirely comfortable with the level of security that WD provides...)

 

Thanks for the info. Maybe Kaspersky is the culprit, but I do not have any problems with KIS 2016 and MAE on my machine. Anyway, let's hope these incompatibility issues will soon be fixed.

 

You could be using the beta version of MAE. I have the same error trying to open Chrome when I install HMPA on a freshly new Window 10..

Are you running Alert build 196 or the 198 build with the Kaspersky fix?

 

I added the Tidal desktop application(https://tidal.com) to Alert (build 196 stable) and after restarting it from Alert, it gave this error:


On subsequent launches(meaning it isn't started by Alert) it doesn't give the error.
However the application name is not visible in the flyout:


System is Windows 7 x86.

Hi Erik, HMPA (build 196) crash dump sent your way. Happened on a clean XP install.

 

I uninstalled HMP.A a couple of day ago because of the problems mentioned earlier in this thread. I will probably give HMP.A another try when the next version is released. Thank you very much for your help and support, Erik.

 

Any chance to make HMA compatible with SpyShelter Premium? , i am getting "Attack Intercepted" when opening either chrome or firefox when both enabled.

It only happens when exploit mitigation being enabled on HMA, how about whitelisting spyshelter premium on exploit mitigation?.

No need to make HMP.A compatible with each any every security software.
Especially no need, if the other one claims to protected against the same risks.

In my opinion HMP.A is superior in it's technique, to protect from most advanced threats.

 

Is there no option in the GUI to make Alert trusted in SpyShelter? I don't use SpyShelter, so I can't tell. There either should be this possibility or the SpyShelter developers have to change something on their end, because the way I read this, this probably cannot be done by Surfright.

I have found out that HMA failed several leak test using spyshelter antitest, SpyShelter premium is really designed for anti screen grab, anti audio grab, advanced anti keylogger, etc.
I only need whitelisting a program/library to be implemented in exploit mitigation, it just like the early days in AV world where whitelisting a program is not possible.

Nice to hear that, does your keystroke encryption running in advanced or compatibility mode ?, care to share more?. Have you try to rerun chrome or firefox after enabled exploit mitigation on HMA?.

What's the difference between 3.0 and 3.1? Does the keystroke encryption work with windows 10 for anyone else? The only time i see it popping up is when i delete characters. Also The webcam notifier doesn't notify me. I'm on the latest 3.1

This version upgraded and is running fine after rebooting. When I start Microsoft Edge I'm seeing the flyout and colored border. The Edge icon is not displayed in the advanced interface front page in either the safe browsing or exploit mitigation sections, but it is listed in Web Browsers when I drill down. This is on Windows 10 x64.

Edit: The colored border displays consistently if auto-hide is disabled, however much of the time it does not display if auto-hide is enabled, even though the browser window has focus.
