Sounds like a solid setup, Lucius. I'm toying with the idea of using KIS 2016 with MBAM Pro (real-time) and HitManPro.Alert. However, I'm not quite sure whether these three programs are compatible with one another. Hm...

Have gotten rid of Appguard and Spyshelter, SS hips would throw up an alert a couple times a day, AG had too many blocked events and I got tired of turning the protection off to use some of my programs. Going with, EAM, MBAE, Cryptoprevent and Zemana free, the cobra combo, silent but deadly.

Sorry to hear that. Windows 10 installed itself on one of my neighbors computers. They had reserved the update and when prompted to install they delayed the update with the scheduler. Apparently, after shutting down for the night and rebooting that next morning the scheduler kicked in on the wrong date and began the installation process. I'm presuming they weren't babysitting the computer on reboot based on what they told me. I had a chance to play around with it a bit, before helping them revert back. Overall, I didn't find any changes that would justify updating to a new operating system. Probably the only reason I could see someone installing windows 10 would be: (1) it's free and extends windows support time (not particularly helpful on older hardware that is probably going to die), (2) they have problems with there system that can't be resolved short of reinstalling windows 7/8, (3) they really want some of the bells and whistles like cortona integration.

I'm planning to go with a chromebook pixile. Just read that Google is implementing a beta update to make it easier to boot from USB. If things progress well with the beta, than I'll keep my older laptop and desktop around in cases where I need to have a dedicated windows computer. Otherwise, I plan to use chrome for my everyday computer, and boot from USB to sharpen my experience with linux-based systems.

Secpol (software restriction security policy) would only work when you have a Pro or higher version.

Secure folders works on windows 10 for 32 bits version. No idea whether it works on 64 bits windows 10, because the documentation only mentioned windows 8.1 64 bits. Since it uses a driver to grant access to protected folders under an alternate user, I dared to try it on Windows 10 on 32 bits, because there was nothing mentioned on ACL (access control list) changes. For 64 bits I would not dare to try it without a tested image recovery fallback plan in place.

 

Using the Standard version of Macrium Reflect again on XP Pro SP3 setup.

Got a deal hard to refuse for Keyscrambler Premium, so got a license for it. Haven't installed it yet and contemplating whether or not to, or for which setup. Wondering if it'd really be of any benefit... I used it years ago and removed it when I believe it became incompatible with Firefox somehow. Or maybe that was just because I was hanging onto v3.6 and refused to upgrade and KS no longer supported it, don't remember.

If anyone has any experience with todays Keyscrambler, and/or also how it plays with Firefox please drop me a line.

Been going for a while with AppGuard and HMP.Alert 3 with Windows Defender disabled on Windows 10. Now I've switched it back on and I don't notice it's there, except for when opening a folder with tons of executables in it, which does not bug me. So for now it's Windows 10 Defender, AppGuard and HMP.Alert 3.
