Maybe that's the reason... make one crazy enough to upgrade the OS.

    It works for me! :isay:

    Yes that's good approach :thumb:
I usually run Autoruns and save entries before updating and then compare it with entries after updates. Autoruns shows all differences and new services, scheduled tasks and drivers can be easily found.

    That's another excellent suggestion! :)

The trouble is that MS have been attempting to 'fix' Win7 of late by replacing it with Win10.

As it is an Optional update anyway, I am not interested in being a guinea pig beta tester for MS.

Well, the way I see it, if it's optional, and my computer is running fine, why do I need it?

I know... that just makes everything that much more difficult to deal with. When you get right down to it, a lot of what they've done to 7, in the name of 10, is just wrong. The tray icon ad for "get 10", I was in 7 the other day, and I even got a huge ad every time I opened IE11 when it went to the MS page. It's ridiculous.

Yeah, there is merit to that attitude also... I tend to install everything, but nowadays it's not always wise, that's for sure..

I'm on it half the time already. It's certainly a lot less stressful to use. ;)

Yeah, when I'm in Debian I also do feel more relaxed and less stress... Maybe that should be a hint! :)

I look at the 3 catagories. Important, Recommended and Optional. Important then I probably will install; Recommended probably "might" install; Optional more times than not it goes in the "Bork Pen" aka hidden update section. I'd rather put a potential "Bork update" in the "Bork Pen" then have my whole system "Borked" :D

What about the ones that come thru as Optional and then return again later as "Important"? I guess those are the ones we should probably run away from screaming.... :)

I have to watch my blood pressure. Microsoft updates aren't good for it! Lol

Yeah, anything 'optional' ... straight to the bork pen! There should be a context menu shortcut for that lol.

Hmmm that's interesting, as you guys have probably seen, I always install MS updates when the next months updates are released so I'm always a month behind - for obvious reasons. Yesterday I hid the aforementioned KB3083325 and noticed there were 6 important and 3 optional updates waiting for install. Today I've just checked and there are just 6 important updates waiting - all 3 optional updates have been pulled, I've not hidden them.
    So what's MS upto ?

My guess, MS have suddenly developed quality control and a conscience and pulled the borkers. Maybe.

Yes, they were all originally labeled "Optional" like yours.

Now the waiting begins as to their magical reappearance, if ever.

    Earth .... occasionally
Oh hell yes ! .... bet the farm on it . -;)

    I'm on the same OS.
I don't see them in my hidden list , just the well-discussed hooligans of the past year or so , and they are not in the installed list either .
With the benefit of hindsight I should have taken a screenshot .... but I just never reckoned on M$ taking things away again .... Ha !

PS - Are they all GWX related ?
.... I could look ..... but it's Sunday .... so I'm hoping somebody else has already checked ....:)

Honestly, this is like a farce. Except a really unfunny one.
