Bork Tuesday, Any Problems Yet?

I just received two three updates for my Win10 machine. I just ran Windows Update again and received another one.

It look's like Microsoft is still messing up .

 

Updated and running Insider Preview 10532

 

It looks like August's KB3076895 is Borking Symantec security products and MS have released a 'Hotfix'.
I also see from my not yet installed August MS updates that they haven't pulled this Borkdate.

My Win7 machine does have KB3076895 but my Norton Security 22.5.2 isn't showing those symptoms. I guess I don't need that hotfix?

 

I would agree with you, if it's not showing any problems I personally would leave it. If things do start happening you know there is a hotfix available.

Install or not W7x64?

I have 6895 installed and have had Windows and App Freeze lately so decided to install 0/1/15 KB3092627 to see if it gets better even though i don't use Symantec stuff.

If its optional, it's best not to tempt fate. I personally won't normally download these. In fact, I option to hide them.

 

@Krusty13 I think MS provide adequate information in this case.

Personally, I don't feel the need to know exactly what the improvements to Windows Update are.

 

Yeah, but with Microsoft's recent history of updating Win7, I would wonder what exactly Microsoft considers an "improvement".

Maybe MS have released it as Optional for now to see if it creates problems. I wouldn't be surprised if it is released again soon as Important.

On Widows 8.1 we got similar - KB3083325. It's optional and it has to do with Windwos Update Client. Hiding it would be wise decision IMO.

Re: KB3083324 got the same update notice. Win 7 64bit. Agree with above posts #'s 962-970 and will hide this update also.

 

How can you guys make the decision to hide an update when it might actually improve or fix something without any downside? It seems that this guessing game with 7 could be a bit self-defeating. It's a sad state of affairs when you get to the point where you can't trust the OS vendor, and if the trust isn't there, might it not be better to dump it altogether and go with an alternative?

 

That sounds like a good thing, JRViejo. It seems like there must be some way to assess all these updates so that it doesn't drive people crazy. And I think we need to keep in mind that most updates ARE for improving the OS and fixing issues and bugs.
