Great reading! Thanks Ron for bringing it up to our attention. I'm glad that finally someone wrote an article that evaluates Win 10 solely on the facts and not being propelled and affected by hate to Microsoft that is seen here on Wilders lately and on the net as well. Thumbs up.

I can understand privacy concerns of people these days. I don't understand the hysteria.

Sure but many of those who complain on Microsoft are having Google accounts, iCloud, Facebook, Twitter and many others which aren't any better than Microsoft as regards privacy concerns. Win 10 isn't more evil than the others.

The main thing that I don't like about W10 is the updates. I understand the concept, an updated computer is a safe computer. But not every update is necessary. There are settings in Nvidia drivers that I don't want installed and other drivers on my laptop that I don't want, mostly Intel garbage drivers. And to have to uninstall all those drivers is a pain. Plus it leaves Reg keys and hidden files behind that I have to search for. Just my .2

    Re: hysteria , really !!

When the originator of a statement withdraws and refuses to clarify their intention, you are left with a void. That void gets quickly filled with assumptions and accusations of deception. Those who are impacted by the originator's statement will undoubtedly come forward and want to discus the situation. These individuals formulate an argument based on how they perceive the statement - this is not hysteria, it is either exasperation or just a need to understand. Unfortunately there are a few people who ascertain that a discussion that trends toward a negative view of the originator's statement as something that is disrespectful. This is far from the truth.

An opinion is just a verbal thought. Thankfully there are brave soles who are willing to enter into a discussion on something that bothers them. Shutting down the conversation leads to anger and resentment. Occasionally a thoughtless jab gets thrown into the mix but overall the discussion has merit. It is the exchange that turns information into knowledge.

Forum: a place, meeting, or medium where ideas and views on a particular issue can be exchanged.

Well, I think you're seeing the reference to hysteria as being directed at forum posts, whereas I took it as referring more generally to the reaction in the blog-o-sphere. I've read some material about Windows 10 sharing/privacy settings that borders on paranoia. Do you or have you ever used Facebook? I think the privacy issues there are potentially far more serious than anything in Windows 10, and in my experience you have to work quite a bit harder to reduce exposure on Facebook. Windows 10 shows you virtually all of the privacy settings when you first install and makes it easy adjust them. I understand that for some people (and I don't mean you) none of this matters; it's the simple fact that it's happening at all that upsets them. I get it, but I also feel that it's just part of the world we live in these days.

Thanks for the link, ronjor.. Over the past week or so, I have come to revise and change my opinion on some of this stuff also. You can look at all of these Win 10 concerns and spin conspiracies and paranoia until you tie yourself in knots, or you can just relax, and realize that unless you're doing something criminal or wrong, most of these concerns really don't amount to much of anything. This is the modern age we live in. Might as well get used to it folks... Unless you wish to live with the 1% who use Linux or the 10% who pay 3 times what it's worth for a Mac.

I'm running Win 10 and haven't had any issues with torrent trackers.

in combination with the forced updates is at least very very suspicious. (Microsoft with 10 has made Google and Apple look like angels when it comes to privacy issues.)

Geolocation monitoring, Voice monitoring, Video monitoring and keystroke monitoring just to help us seems more like the novel "1984"

coming in reality 66 years after it was initially published (8 June 1949).

:thumb: because there are others who are worse than Microsoft. They're only overshadowed by Win 10 for the time being. ;)

Windows 10 is now apparently installed on over 75 million PCs since the launch. See here for more stats given by Yusuf Mehdi, VP of Marketing for Windows.

@J_L Unfortunately, I cannot confirm that. I am sticking with LTSB for the time being and loving the non-metro.

@WildByDesign Is there much advantage to doing this versus doing an upgrade and selecting to keep nothing.
