    I hope the suggestions work, Paul. Try them with 5.01.9.

    Paul, I found out that the message you been getting when you upgrade over the top, means that a program is locking one or more Sandboxie files. To find out what program is doing it, you could use Process explorer.

    I think the program locking SBIE files is one of the other security programs that you are using real time.Try upgrading over the top a few minutes after rebooting the PC, and before using Sandboxie. And disable all real time security programs that you are using when you run the Sandboxie installer. Maybe this works.

    Thanks Bo.
    I am sure you are right some security program is locking something ... I noticed now with 5.01.9 update, with over-the-top install, it is unable to delete some registry key (I will have to note exactly what it is next time).
    I tried looking in Process Explorer, and also disabling all real-time security programs, without success. I still had to uninstall first, reboot, then install. But I will keep looking to find the culprit.
    Btw - do you have any suggestion on this also?

    I think, if for you, HMPA works fine along Sandboxie with the compatibility setting ticked, leave it on. I suggested to Page to tick it off because he was having problems using HMPA along Sandboxie using the setting. And I know, that sometimes in some computers, programs work better with SBIE when not using the settings. Sometimes this compatibility settings are old and not updated and can cause issue instead of helping.

    Firefox works fine for you with the setting, leave it on. I think you are thinking about using Chrome. If and when you run Chrome, HMPA still works fine along SBIE, don't change nothing. But if there is a problem, then you could disable the setting globally and only apply it to the sandbox where its needed. If I was using HMPA, I would do something like that. And not use the setting at all if its not really needed.

    Can someone post a command line or addition to this c:\program files\sandboxie\sbiectrl.exe like /start or whatever in the registry to make sandboxie control show up in as a tray icon. This is on Windows 8.0 OEM 64bit. I tried adding it in the startup folder time and again but on reboot every other icon shows up except sandboxie until I activate it manually. Arrrrgg.

    Thanks. I know it's likely something minor but rather have it in the tray instead of a shortcut on the desktop or manually having to navigate to ProgramFiles to click on it for it to show in the task tray all the time.

    Thanks. 5.01.9 version ATM.

    EASTER, you can create a shortcut for Sandboxie control with the path below and drag it from there to the task bar.
    "C:\Program Files\Sandboxie\SbieCtrl.exe" /open

    With 5.01.10 I am still finding that the appearance of Firefox 40.0.2 is different when I run from the "Sandboxed Web Browser" shortcut compared to running as a Forced program.

    The title bar is not drawn correctly. The search options page is not displayed correctly.

    Pling man, I think Invincea knows the font issue in Windows 10 has not been fixed. Probably will be fixed in the next beta.

    Curious, this message keeps showing even after repeated Hide...
    I get a dllhost for Internet access that I close and try to Hide for next time.

    Most of the time when you click Hide in a message, the message has the name of the sandbox inside brackets, like this: SbieCtrl_HideMessage=2221,soffice.bin [Libre]

    In the example, I hid message 2221 for sandbox Libre. That message is not gonna show up again in my Libre sandbox. But if I run Libre in another sandbox, the message shows up. Thats how that works.

    There are messages that dont show the name of the sandbox inside brackets. When you Hide a message of this kind, the message is hidden for all sandboxes.

    Well, the dllhost request for net access presents only for my Internet Explorer sandbox...
    I only see 2221 for Internet Explorer sandbox.
    Net access is only Internet Explorer
    dllhost and Internet Explorer in Start/Run

    Thats fine.
    Once you click Hide in messages 1307 and 2221 for dllhost, you should not get those messages anymore in your IE sandbox.

    They are listed under:
    [UserSettings_704A06B9]

    And what you hidden is going to look like:
    SbieCtrl_HideMessage=1307,plugin-container.exe [DefaultBox]
    SbieCtrl_HideMessage=1308,FoxitReaderUpdater.exe [DefaultBox] *
    SbieCtrl_HideMessage=2314,FoxitReaderUpdater.exe
    SbieCtrl_HideMessage=1308,FoxitReaderUpdater.exe [Foxit]
    SbieCtrl_HideMessage=1307,FoxitReader.exe [Foxit]
    SbieCtrl_HideMessage=2221,FoxitReader.exe [Foxit]
    SbieCtrl_HideMessage=2203,*GUIPROXY_00000000 - KMPlayer.exe [00000102]

    SbieCtrl_HideMessage=2221,rundll32.exe [InternetExplorer]
    SbieCtrl_HideMessage=2221,dllhost.exe [InternetExplorer]

    Yep, they're there and yet 1307/2221 on every IE call....
    Hide 1307.PNG
    Scenario: running FF sandbox'd. IE is default. So, when I call IE for example by Windows Update > More information. IE opens and I'll get 1307/2221 each time.

    If you click Hide in message 1307, that message should not show up again in your IE sandbox. If it does, then, perhaps something is corrupted.

    You could try running IE in a new sandbox. Hide both messages (1307 and 2221) in the new sandbox when they appear and then see if they don't show up again after hiding them.

    You could also start all over regarding hiding messages. Click "Forget hidden messages" under Configure, that would erase every Hide message you have at this point. After clearing messages, be conscious when you hide a message and in which sandbox you are doing it. And then, try to remember.

    This happened to me last two beta builds. It seems the program (SBIE) won't write those lines in Sandboxie.ini
    I had to do it manually. Now it is silent.

    Hiding messages works fine for me in XP and W7.
