    More info here

End user license agreement is a bit fishy :/
It may be general McAgee end user license agreement which applies to different products...

Is there an expiration date? What if the stable version is released and there is no recent beta? Basically, I'm wondering if this could be a long-term freeware worth adding to the list.

It's rather interesting to see one of the larger AV companies entering the Free AV market. I am curious to see where this goes as time goes on.

I still feel as though they should drop the old McAfee branding and go all out with Intel Security. Regardless, this is pretty interesting.

This certainly interests me. Even if it'll be absolutely basic, I'm interested. McAfee has been scoring well and this actually looks nice.

Trying it at the moment and have noticed a few things:
-Computer is slower/laggier (may or may not be related to its installation)
-Web protection functions strangely. Often shows the warning page after the threats are downloaded to HD
-Firewall doesn't show up under Win 7 Action Center

Does it have potential? Yeah for sure. Though it seems a bit rough around the edges at the moment.

Welcome to beta testing. Please report your findings to the company so they can fix them.

Without a doubt, that is how McAfee will benefit from this the most.

    Good Lord!
It is such a great news! Wishing them all the success. Intel is continuing the good works with McAfee...

I wouldn't even install a McAfee product if you paid me to. :thumbd:

McAfee has always been pretty good. It was their interface and bloated design that bothered most people. That's why people were fine with Enterprise edition (workstation version) but weren't with the Home editions which were just fat and bloaty.

Because I was shocked to see just how bad McAfee Internet Security was. Nowadays it comes pre-installed on lots of machines.

Good Afternoon! I currently have a license for McAfee I.S.2015. It needs to be re-engineered too provide a simpler...faster install process. And the scans are overly lengthy...I have a feeling they don't employ digital fingerprinting...for the scan process. Now in all fairness the Gui is intuitive in useage...and it's improved it's effectiveness in Detection and Removal of Malware Bigtime for 2015. It's merely my feeling but I'd like to see a renaming of the product too simply Intel Security. Otherwise it's come a long way during 2015...and is reasonably priced...and I'd have no qualms in recommending the product. Sincerely...Securon

I purchased a McAfee Antivirus Plus license 10 days ago and have had zero problems which was what I was looking for. For me, it doesn't have to have top detection in the tests though they are improving. I just want it to work as it should without problems. I ditched one of my other security programs because there was a bug every time there was a program update. So far my time to the welcome screen is less than 18 seconds with a hard disk drive so it doesn't cause any startup delay or any other slowdown. Another nice thing is that it does it's job silently and there has been no attempt to upsell me. Kind of nice to have things work as they should. I will test the free beta on my other computer when I get back in town.

"We’ve managed to reduce the size of our software with an all-new virus detection technology that relies on the cloud." http://beta.mcafee.com/betamcafee/NextGenFaq.aspx

Sounds interesting. Will definitely give the finished product a try.

    Earth .... occasionally
Likewise , Rasheed187 , with the last new laptop I bought it went straight in the trash along with the all of the other Bloatware.

But my decision had nothing to do with John McAfee's ( let's be polite here ) " unconventional " personal life - :)

..... and what does the man himself say about it ?

In 2012, when asked if he personally uses McAfee anti-virus he replied by saying "I take it off," and that "It's too annoying."

Maybe it is much better these days .....

So pretty much what many other antivirus are using nowadays.
