What are false positives when surfing? Do you mean incorrectly identifying websites as threats and blocking? If so that can be undone with a single click, but perhaps you mean something else?

We Beta testers are testing a new Web Filter Driver for the past few months and you will not see the Extension in Firefox only the Password Manager if you have ISP or Complete and nothing has been said if there doing away with Extensions as IE11 and Chrome still has them.

So if anyone finds to be a False Positive on a Website Submit it here to get it changed: http://www.brightcloud.com/tools/change-request-url-reputation.php

    Thanks,

    Daniel

Just for checking, I enabled the web shield, and browsing a lot. So far no FP! But even when last week I checked, I was getting an FP every 10-15 min, and were so annoyed, turned it off.

Can you please describe what you mean by a false positive?

Lots of websites (which are clean) were getting flagged as phishing/malware websites.

Thanks, that's what I guessed you meant. When this happens to me I just click "unblock" (or whatever it says) and WSA allows the site to display. Does that not work for you?

    It was even blocking torproject.
Yep, of course that works. But the blocking was just too much last week.

Yes, an safe website flagged as suspicious or malicious is a false positive. I realize I can click a button to ignore the warning, but it still gets annoying. I used to report them on the Webroot forums, but it can too time consuming, as they are just too common.

A lot of legitimate VPN service providers' websites are flagged as malicious.

I raised the VPN providers being flagged a year or so ago. The discussion then never came up with a solid answer why though. My personal opinion, FWIW, is that the Brightcloud database Webroot uses is business focussed and in the corporate world you don't want your employees going to 3rd party VPN providers!
These types of false positives is still the reason I'm not using Webroot at the moment....would love to come back.

I can only post this for now until she gets back to me and they are looking into it!

    Thanks,

    Daniel

I use Private Internet Access and haven't had any problems that I am aware of.

Yes as I used them and got it whitelisted, now I use IP Vanish and I got that site whitelisted so if your VPN service is being blocked fill out the form: http://www.brightcloud.com/tools/change-request-url-reputation.php

    Thanks,

    Daniel

Thanks and yes there are issues with the current Web Filter and as I said we Beta Testers are testing a new Web Filter Driver which seems to work much better but they are still working on it. Are you a Beta tester with the BETA Keycode if so check the site again and report via the link @SweX posted or Submit A Support Ticket and put into the issue line to the Bright Cloud Team and report your findings to them.

    Thanks,

    Daniel
