Comodo blocked most of my tray icons from loading, or caused them to load delayed by 4-5 minutes.

Version 8 never sat well on various test machines.
Will await Version 9 and give it a trial.

App is sort of ok, what most people can't handle with are die hard fanboys on their forums who think they are running the whole show and who happen to be moderators there as well. A recipe for disaster. It's that and nothing else that makes people not want to deal with Comodo.

I think it is not fair to say "most people" when we know it is (only?) you who had an argument with them.

Keep living in delusion. When I expressed my disagreement publicly (outside of Comodo forums), all of a sudden bunch of people appeared who had the exact same experience and opinion.

And sooner or later you HAVE to use the forum, because whitelisting and false positives reporting through the program does NOT function at all in terms that they never whitelist or fix anything you submit through the app within a meaningful time (months and years aren't meaningful time).

You could say "lots of people" but "most" is not correct.
Do you know how many users they have?
I agree with you about whitelisting and FPs...been there done that and got bored over time.

    That and:
an insistence of offering unfinished, unpolished products
going for a new version before the current one is reliable
keeping bugs from version to version
    ignoring user feedback
developing irrelevant apps at the expense of the core ones

CIS is a very effective suite, but there are reasons not to use Comodo's products and fanboism is just one.

I don't care about their fanboys and forums. The suite is quite effective and the underlying principle is quite right imo. However there are %&$load of bugs and glitches, which hardly get fixed and a quite clunky and all over the place gui. The software needs to be rewritten from scratch to be up there with the top dogs.

This thread is a perfect example of why you shouldn't open a new thread unless there is something new to discuss. None of the replies here are in regards to the topic. Of course it isn't possible, as version 9 hasn't even been released yet. Suffice to say the OP is already notorious on a German infosec forum for this behavior.

I care more about the product and how it works....the fanboys don't matter. The strength seems to be the ability to tweak the product and when you do that, it's pretty safe and light. My experience at least...and it's free. Doesn't mean I'm in bed with them...just my experience.

Erm, no. When you start to depend on forums to get false positives and bugs fixed, they do matter. And when they turn a simple bug report into bureaucratic nightmare you know what time it is. They keep on pretending they have this super organized section where everything is perfect and when you finally fill in all the repetitive questionnaire BS, that bug report just gets lost in the depths of all the crap posted there and never really gets resolved. Pointless.

It once took me like 4 pages of explaining what's wrong with a function to a Comodo dev. 4 freaking pages. Of course famous Comodo fanboys and mods jumped in why I'm attacking the dev and why I'm not following their stupid bug report format to the letter, when he failed to understand my at most dumbed down, simplified English. For avast! I just dropped a thread, explained what's wrong with basic details and they fixed the damn thing. No one was harassing me to follow some made up bug report formatting that has no purpose other than to annoy people. THERE IS NO AUTOMATED SYSTEM that would require such formatting. It's just a forum.

I was re-exposed to their forum while searching for a security suite that actually had a firewall that didn't conflict with Windows 10 while Emsisoft fixes theirs. The mods were quite offensive and threatening bans for users who were simply being impatient for the release of Comodo's Win 10 version. Not very professional behavior for a mod. Thank heaven the mods on here don't act like that!

Needless to say, I moved on from Comodo as an option.

The program is VERY capable of handling most stuff you throw at it. You could say it is one of the strongest in the industry.
As for the forum [not the theme of conversation here], a handful of them are very educated in e-security, most of them know how to handle this beast, and
there are those having issues. Most get resolved, some don't.

I always like to see with each new version "over 500+ bugs fixed" more than anything :)

Now, if they could just have original windows system files restoration to replace damaged ones via cloud [even on boot time], that would be swell!!!
    But, wishful thinking :)

I expect stronger tools to play with, and more detections with AV.

I have found that Revo Uninstaller does a pretty good job of removing everything :)

    http://www.revouninstaller.com/revo_uninstaller_uninstall_features.html
Download Pro trial, install, press Forced Uninstall button, for exact program name enter Comodo [if you want to uninstall everything Comodo] or Comodo Internet Security if you want to uninstall just that. Observe the magic. It might prompt you to restart to delete some remnants, do so when it does. If not, you're in the clear.
Additionally, it removes not just files, but registry entries as well. Have fun :)
