SmartScreen seems to work on obvious malware, but I haven't really tested it.

Installed tonight...running smooth with Webroot. Win10 seems faster than Win7 so far....very early though.

It seems to have made my five-year-old laptop run like a young greyhound. I haven't seen it this fast in, on, five-years. And I did the upgrade, not a clean install. So far so good. My other devices are running well, too.

Running much faster here now too since I removed Panda Free. Like night and day. Startup time improved about 75%, and everything else is much snappier.

My audio stopped working on my ThinkPad T400 after resuming from sleep. I uninstalled the audio driver and let Device Manager download a replacement, but there was still no audio, even after a restart.

I shut downad my laptop, removed the battery and then pressed the power button a few times to completely discharge the laptop. When I powered it on again, I had sound.

When I uninstalled the Conexant audio driver, which was really old driver from 2009, as there have been no driver updates for it since then, it was repaced by Windows Update with a generic high definition audio driver released a few months ago. After rebooting, the 2009 Conexant driver was back again.

I had an issue with my wifi not working after I resumed from sleep too. I wonder if the same situation could be going on with the audio? Maybe not, but interesting. The fix for my wifi issue was to go into Device Manager, and then right click on the wifi device, select properties, then select power management tab, and uncheck the box that said "turn off this device during sleep to save power" or something similar. It seems that when I returned from sleep, windows didn't reconnect the wifi and it couldn't be reconnected until I rebooted. Then all was normal again. Unchecking that box in properties fixed the issue. Perhaps there is a similar power saving thing with the audio device? Just a thought...

Btw, this was an issue in Win 8 as well...

Does the final version of Windows 10 still include the "keylogger"?

Yes Webroot SecureAnywhere is officially compatible and works fine in 10. I'm also using MBAM Pro with real-time protection ON and HMP.Alert; all working well.

Until I installed 10 I thought it was a released to general public finial version. Now I see after looking at the site ronjor posted it is a preview build and that is why so many are experiencing so many issues. I had the start menu issue. It didn't work. Found a solution for that at that site. Then had the issue where my mic would not work, also found a solution for that so I could get the talking lady to work. Then found out she isn't up to par yet and mostly does a Bing search instead of talking. She will still tell you joke if you ask her though.

The upgrade coming through GWX/Windows Update (or downloaded with the Media Creation Tool) is not a preview build.

I just used the windows icon in my task bar and was and still am experiencing some of the same issues. As of now, I notice I get that error when trying to open Edge. It says my trial is done and says to connect to app store, then only get a warning to close program and so like many others can only use IE or another browser.

What are these different versions of WIN 10 when you startup the Media Creation Toolkit; like WIN 10 Home N, etc. If you have WIN 7 Home Premium do you just select WIN 10 Home?

    thanks for your reply.
mr. haller is the founder of portableapps platform. so i was referring to the portableapps version.
i've been looking for a portable client which can be run as a standalone exe file like utorrent, you know.
but i guess qbt doesn't offer that.

  22. I think I found out why Windows Defender on Windows 10 does not seem to delay startup of programs, it launches MpCmdRun after the program is started (so a simple post program start check instead of code emulation and/or virtualisation). This delayed scan is the reason for CPU short peek usage (<45% at my system).

There is also a new setting in GPO called "early launch malware check" at boot (seems available since Win8 ). This seems to check Driver signing and hash validity (check driver itself is not changed).

WinX feels faster as Win7, problably due to the 2D GUI (which requires less of my cheap Pentium G32 build in GPU) :thumb: for now

Here is a good article about the forced windows updates and how hey use a P2P platform now to deliver them. It appears unless you shut it off or only select computers on your own network, it will work like Bittorrent and deliver them to other computers around the world. Page two with heading broadband hog tells how to turn it off. http://www.forbes.com/sites/gordonk...-windows-8-vs-windows-7-whats-the-difference/

It was already incorporated into Windows Defender since Windows 8.
