Well, I've just finished upgrading from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 on one of my laptops. So far, everything seems to be running fine.

Lenovo's System Update found no software or driver updates. Also, the version Lenovo Drivers Management found no driver updates.

The upgrade caused StartIsBack+ to get replaced with the Windows 10 start menu. I don't mind the new start menu aprart from the fact that Modern (Metro) Apps are listed amongst desktop apps. I probably will never use these apps so it would be nice to have them kept seperate.

I've got no audio latency issues - something I have exerienced on other laptops running the preview of Windows 10. Essential Update manager found and installed three Windows Updates. It's a good alternative to running the new metro style Windows update, since the desktop Windows Update wuapp.exe is no longer part of Windows, and it lets you select what updates you want to install rather than having Windows download every signe update. I may try disabling the Windows Update service, and see if I can still use EUM.

That is probably because Lenovo has released drivers for your audio chip. Lenovo is very good at drivers. My friend has a 3 year old Thinkpad carbon X1 and Lenovo has drivers (both 32/64 bit) for XP, Windows 7, 8, 8.1 and 10 for his system.

I found that Apps that don't work after a Fresh Clean install (i.e choose remove everything while upgrading) don't work whereas (keep apps and personal settings ) Your Apps will work

Corsair have today released another version of CorsairLINK CorsairLink_Installer_RC_v3.2.5676 Whether this works on Windows 10 or not I have no idea, as I'm back to 8.1 until I decide whether or not I'm going to permanently use 10

@Raza0007 The audio drivers are Windows 8 drivers Lenovo published 3 years ago - 2 1/2 years after the laptop was released. You are right about Lenovo providing excellent driver support.

Tell me about it. My Dell came with Vista and Dell refused to release drivers for Windows 7, just because Windows 7 came out 1 year after the system was released to public.

Also, are you sure your drivers are not Windows 10 specific? When I installed Win 10 on my system, MS automatically installed Win 10 compatible Nvidia video drivers, without asking me.

@Raza0007 I checked the date of my audio driver, and it is the Windows 8 driver Lenovo have on their download page for my model.

Has anyone seen this behavior on a laptop update where it keeps downloading windows 10 but in sizes like 10,850 MB, then retrying after failing, now downloading a 13,565.1 MB? It's weird, tried everything on my Sony Vaio and it keeps failing at the point where it says preparing to install.

    Update:
Deleted everything in the Software distribution folder again and now it wants to install Windows 10 with a 2,,272.8 MB Windows update... hilarious.

With my main laptop, while I am going to do the upgrade, I suspect that I will experience audio issues just as it did with preview versions of Windows 10. I think the problem lies with the fact that that the audio drivers have not been updated to support Windows 8 or more recent operating systems.

It has a Conexant 20561 SmartAudio HD sound chip, and it seems that there have been no driver updates for 6 years.

Finally upgraded W10 (from W7 64 bits), looks like W10 uninstalled Norton Security with backup 2015 (version 22.5.2.15 and W10 compatible).

Edit: Reverted back to W7, no W10 for me.

Data input to an input field is most certainly collected; that's what input fields do. Including this one I'm using right now. When I hit "Post Reply" this data will be collected and processed as intended. OMG Wilders is spying on me!

Or, if you like, you can uninstall Cortana or disable the Internet portion of Cortana.

To answer your question, "Why people use..." because it works out of the box and does all sorts of things that *nix can't. Okay, one thing: games, heh. Otherwise I'd be running linux.

All family W8 devices have updated drivers for W10 downloaded from OEM today. All hardware working properly.
Agree 100% . All W8 family devices are Lenovo. All updated today to W10 without issue.

Installed it and it's a real charm. Much better than Windows 8.1 and earlier versions.

Agree 100% I have Windows 8.1 64 bit, I can wait for some updated Drivers and patches to be downloaded. So starting today I an getting the Computer Ready for Windows 10 removed AV; updated Window Defender. Have yet to un encrypt Axcrypt files and do a full backup in case any files are missing from all apps with Macrium Reflect

I have not received mine yet. Although strangely the icon has disappeared from the toolbar panel, but win update said windows 10 upgrade reserved: will let you know when to upgrade. So I guess I have to wait for my upgrade.

I tried searching online to see if I can download manually, but all result is to wait for the windows upgrade. Damn why does it take long for me in canada to get the update.

I am currently upgrading my Windows 7 laptop to 10 manually. If it's successful I'll post the process.

Your welcome :) By the way, I understand your GWX icon is gone, but have you tried running Windows Update to see what the status of your 10 upgrade is?
