The title says it all. Please post both paid and/or free applications and a short description of its functionality.

Launchy - run applications without touching my mouse.

In past I've bee playing with Mouse without borders that lets you use one mouse on multiple desktops. I thought that it was cool app.

Here's what I've come up with so far.

360 Extreme Explorer - Fast and highly configurable web browser.

AdwCleaner / Junkware Removal Tool - I find these to be excellent at removing adware and unwanted software from customer's computers. I tend not to use them much on my computers, as I sometimes want to keep some of the software they detect.

Drive The Life - This driver update software can actually repair issues with USB devices not working. My laptop would not recognise flash drives, this fixed it.

EaseUS Disk Copy - Can clone hard drives with read errors, which is something I need to do quite often.

eM Client - An excellent and very well designed email client.

    FlashGet 1.73
    - My preferred software for checking for software updates.

    HaoZip
    - Free archiving software with a WinRAR style interface. Personally I hate the user interface of 7-Zip.

    Hard Disk Sentinel
    - Hard drive SMART monitoring software which provides much more useful information about the condition of your storage devices than most alternatives.

    IObit Uninstaller 4 (beta)
    - It can batch uninstall software, and can scan for leftovers after a reboot.

    Kerish Doctor
    - Unlike most system utility software, this can actually fix problems, and also includes some basic malware scanning.

    Malwarebytes Anti-Malware
    - While these days I always use other software like AdwCleaner as well to clean up computers, the detection rate is still good.

StartIsBack+ - Brings back the traditional start menu to Windows 8/8.1/10 and only costs $2.99.

Windows Repair (tweaking.com) - Really good at fixing all kinds of Windows problems.

@Hadron It is, but you can right click on a download file, and there is the option to check for updates. If the file has been updated it will be downloaded again. In FlashGet I've made an Update category with 70 installers in it. I select them all and then right click and do the check for updates, to check for updates to all of the installers.

I tried to make this a list of cool applications that people may not know about.

1Password - I dont like the idea of keeping my passwords stored in the cloud. 1password makes it very easy to sync my password database across devices.

Adguard - Best ad blocker i have used and is very customizable. Its also constantly updated which is huge for me.

Audioshell - Adds a context menu to media content which allows the user to easily edit media tags.

Displayfusion - This is a great piece of software for users that use more than one monitor. Gives the user much more flexibility and options on how to setup each monitor.

Duet Display - This is a fairly new software, it allows the user to use their iphone or ipad as a secondary display on windows or mac device.

Find and Run Robot (FARR) - This is very similar to launchy but with many more options and is much more customizable.

Mailbird - This has been my favorite email client thus far. It is very customizable and has all the functionality i need from an email client.

    Mp3tag - A fully featured, free, mp3 tag editor.

Netdrive - Allows me to utilize all my cloud storage accounts without having to install many different applications for each account.

Subsonic - With subsonic i am able to stream my music/videos from my home pc to my phone or any web browser. No need to pay a subscription fee to listen to music or listen to ads.

WinCDEmu - A tool that allows you to mount optical disc images by simply clicking on them in Windows Explorer.

EDIT: Just looked through my software list and thought of 2 more.
Hashtab - This adds a tab in the properties menu (any file) which will display a files MD5 and SHA-1

MakeMKV - Turn any dvd or blueray into an .mkv file.

Flux - Changes the screen brightness automatically depending on daytime
SolEol & PySub - For downloading subtitles
Essential Net Tools - For several networking needs
Everything - Epic fast file indexing
    SlickRun - Keyword based launcher

I have tons of software but think these are lesser known ones which came to my mind.

    FastStone Capture
    IMGBurn
.... an outdated version , pre-Bundleware ( eg OpenCandy ) .... but it has never let me down .
IOBit Uninstaller ..... their business ethics are questionable , but it's just too good to ditch it.
    MiniTool Partition Wizard
    Process Hacker
    PrivaZer
    YUMI

For repairs to other peoples systems :-

    Glary Utilities 5
    MBAM

In regards to KeyScrambler... have you seen it display messages saying it was unable to encrypt? All the Developer could offer as a response was to uninstall/re-install...

this is cool. other downloaders like IDM or Free Download Manager should have this option too. then it could auto-check for like Adobe Flash Updates and also weekly grocery store ads to download in PDF form.

my most useful is VT Hash Check. i set it as my AV checker in IDM or FDM and then once a file is downloaded it immediately pings VT and about 90-95% of the time the file has already been uploaded so i get the results and if it hasnt been uploaded VT Hash check gives you that option. Everything is automated this way.

also useful are the context menu editor programs. i think im using an old one from ZD net and i can add stuff like "send to Universal Extractor" or "send to PE Studio" etc etc.

one more i was using was StatBar as it is like a compact dashboard you can place at the top of the screen to see everything from RAM usage to Up/Download speeds, battery %, master volume control/mute, CPU % charts, HDD status, lock key status, system uptime etc. It doesnt work in 64-bit apparently so now i'm testing WinBar and InfoBar. takes up very minimal screen space on my netbooks and i kinda wonder why everyone isnt using a similar program.

also i use Launchy but there's many others similar. Would be nice if they had a switch on the GUI to search only exe's vs search everything including folders and all other files because if i set it up with the latter as default there is too much clutter when trying to find just a program.

also MicroBin sits in the tray and double-click the icon quickly empties the recycle bin without another stupid popup saying "Are you sure you want to delete these 50 items?"

and HostsMan and HostsServer to handle hosts file downloading and blocking. considering PeerBlock also.

also, my best site for finding good programs is Portable Freeware dot com. everything is pretty much screened for stuff like adware and if you use portable they let you know if it writes to registry or is stealth, etc. PortableApps dot com is also good but i dont always like the style in which they package their programs. Seems to be more about them and less about thanking the prgram authors.

    btw, good thread idea OP.

Considering the time I spend with it and how lost I would be without it the coolest and only is Firefox.

Here are a few programs I use everyday:
    Everything Search (free)
Filemenu Tools - adds useful functions to your right-click menu (free)
Keepass 2 - my favorite password manager (free)
Internet Download Manager - best download manager for me
Vista Start Menu (for XP/Vista/Win 7) or Start Menu X (for Win 8/8.1 - free versions are fine
Autohotkey - this takes some learning, but it's super useful for adding your own hotkeys and functions to Windows (free)
Touchpad Blocker - only if you have a touch pad and accidentally keep touching it (free)
Beyond Compare - for comparing files and folders
    Fastcopy (free)
Notepad2 - replaces Notepad, just as fast but better (free)

    Other useful programs:
ABBYY Screenshot Reader - best tool for capturing text from images or scanned files
f.lux (aka Flux) - adjusts screen brightness according to time of day - it's supposed to be good for your eyes and mind (free)
Eye Leo - annoying but useful - it pops up every 10-15 minutes to remind you to move your eyes in a certain way or to look away from the screen for a while, it's good for your eyes, but predictably annoying (free)

Honorable mentions: Windows Firewall Control, Firefox, Thunderbird, Registry Workshop (best registry editor), Virtualbox, Inifix PDF Editor for editing PDF's in a pinch, Irfanview for basic, fast image viewing and editing, GIMP for more advanced image editing, Media Subtitler for adding subtitles quickly to video (also Aegisub for shifting subtitle times), WinAVI All-in-One Converter for converting video and audio files (because it's fast), Prey Anti-Theft, Q-Dir file manager, and a bunch of others...

On this one I'll go with Shadow Defender, hands down (avatars aside). I've been following this forum for years and to date, SD remains one of my greatest discoveries despite muchisimo major significant others. Without a doubt, one of the easiest and most effective security apps ever coded. Oh, ~ Snipped as per TOS ~.. clicked on this, downloaded that, accidentally fell for that social engineering gag?!?! --- Reboot... and Frank Ulysses and the pygmy pony that all those fuglies rode in on that dared to verge.
