    Hello,

an earlier thread reported this without any resolution. I am using "Paragon Hard Disk Manager 12 Suite" from the administrator a/c on a 10+ year old WinXP SP3 laptop.

I have disabled the screen saver, and removed the power scheme timeouts on the monitor and harddisks. I have also disconnected from the Internet and disabled the anti-virus program.

However every attempt to run the Surface Check function, whether in normal or extreme mode, results in an "aborted by user" exit after 1+ hours.

PHDM 12 Suite had reported bad blocks earlier in a failed re-partition attempt so I would like to complete a thorough surface test before formatting a newly established partition.

Any ideas on how to complete the PHDM surface test ? (I am also looking at alternatives such as chkdsk.exe).

    Thank you.

chkdsk shouldn´t be an alternative, but the first option. Run it with the "repair" parameter.
