Don't know about the VC stuff. But as to which version, I always use the latest beta. Been doing them a long time, and they always have been stable.

I still using Sandboxie V. 3.76 in my old computer running Windows Vista SP2 and I did not have any problem yet (I guess) :p

Reason to upgrade to latest version?

    Thanks

Hi Curious girl, the dlls that the Sandboxie installer looks for are mfc100u.dll and msvcr100.dll. If SBIE doesn't find them in your computer, it copies them to the Sytem32 folder. Thats where they are in my computers.

And, like Peter, I believe the latest versions are more secure than old versions. Latest betas are always stable, IMO.

Camelia, with Sandboxie, you can upgrade and downgrade versions over the top. No problem. So, you can try the latest beta or 4.16 if you like. If something doesn't work out alright, you just run the installer for 3.76.

    Ok
Thanks bo elam, I will try to update to latest and if it is ok as you suggest if something goes wrong i will install the version I am using ;) BUT first...

OK, once I tried to update and I had serious problems about these .dlls I don't remember which Sandboxie version was... very frustrating...

Now I know these .dlls are now included in the installer binary (which is why it is much larger now), But I don't have in my system

    dlls.jpg

It seems these .dlls are included in Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable Package, but which version, 2005, 2008 or 2010? :ninja:

As i said I am very curios girl, :argh: And I don't want to have a nightmare again trying to update Sandboxie, better for me to download the correct Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable Package :ninja:

Thanks for any info you can provide me

Came, you do not need to download and install the whole package. I cant know how Sandboxie 4.16 will work out in your Vista but I can guarantee that you will not have an issue due to the copying of the VC files to your computer. Before 4.16, for a while, some users had issues related to Sandboxie downloading and then the installation of the whole VC package, (like you had) when upgrading Sandboxie. Those issues are history. No more.:)

    Hi Came

One other piece of advice. Backup, backup, backup.

A side note of mine: All Sandboxie betas I've tested end up as my current running version, as they are quite stable and reliable.

I use v3.76 32-bit for XP. For Win7 or 64-bit I use v4.6, as it's the last version Tzuk actively worked on. So I trust it more. On my Win7 Ultimate 32-bit box I use 4.6

People talk about the newer versions being more secure, but I've as of yet had 3.76 give me any cause for concern nor reason to change.
