How is F-Secure these days because nobody talks about it at this moment here. I did like it but the 2013 version was too heavy for me.

It is very good; high detection via dual engine (Bitdefender + inhouse) combined with a cloud assisted Behavior Blocker and low system impact.
The only "problem" is the ugly interface :argh:

I'm using F-Secure Safe. Super light and fast. No impact on performance and internet speed. It has a lot of processes but it works just fine on my PC. I am very impressed :thumb:

GUI is not an issue for me at all.

Recent versions over the last year or so have become much lighter in real-time compared to older ones. Detection rates remain strong.

GUI is very garish but the whole F-secure website is now of a similar flashy color. IME, on-demand scanner speed, banking protection and initial install procedure have all improved considerably in the last two years. But no inbuilt firewall now which was dropped from the IS version, which a lot of past users have missed.

Using on one of my machines as I have several free licenses. Well worth a trial run on one of your machines. SnapCrab_NoName_2015-5-10_17-51-31_No-00.png

Relatively expensive compared to other vendors but Ebay has a number of cheap versions which are legitimate offers.

My F-Secure AV subscription expired shortly ago. All in all, I was quite satisfied with it.
I concur with most of the above comments. Very light (was running AV, not IS).
I liked the spartan functionality of it's interface.
A tad costly (as mentioned) & discounted versions not very prolific.

    @darts

You can sign up for the beta and they will give you a 6-month license straight away which they will renew; https://www.f-secure.com/en/web/labs_global/beta-programs. I know one user who has been using their betas for years!

Unlike some vendors the beta is very stable and has an active Forum; http://community.f-secure.com/t5/Home-Security/bd-p/Windows_Technology_Preview

    As regards deals,

    1. Ebay NL has a number of boxed versions available; select one of the boxed offers which contain a card with a serial number enclosed; http://www.ebay.nl/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=m570.l1313&_nkw=f-secure&_sacat=0

    2. Use the code VOUCHERCODES30 for a 30% discount on Internet Security.

F-Secure is a good choice if you can obtain a cheap/free license.

gui stinks imo. took away to many advanced options. i will be the odd man out and say i still find it a bit heavy many others are much lighter. and i also dont like not having options during install. i cant stand av's that only have a single install button i like to be able to not install things i do not want or need. otherwise it is a good av however.

It hooks into WFP/Windows Firewall, like lots of other products now do.

Good Afternoon! Another vendor that gives you Less For More. You think they could provide their Loyal Customer with a proper Firewall...Preferably Hips enabled! I'll bet the Pricing doesn't reflect the omission of the missing Firewall. Disgusting...give the Man a Lollipop! Sincerely...Securon

DeepGuard, the behavior blocker, should have (at least to my understanding) the ability to block outbound connections by the malware itself, as well as process manipulations by malware with the goal to send traffic through legitimate applications. These abilities are featured in the anti-virus, too, so there is no need for the internet security.

A whitepaper on Deepguard here; https://www.f-secure.com/documents/996508/1030745/deepguard_whitepaper.pdf

"Now the product uses operating system’s own Windows Firewall for basic firewall functionality, such as inbound network traffic filtering, location-specific settings and HomeGroup support. On top of this basic protection by Windows Firewall, the product has been complemented with the following security mechanisms to improve the firewall functionality:
    • Blocking download of exploits and other harmful files. Each downloaded file is scanned and all harmful files are blocked automatically.
    • Preventing suspicious applications from accessing the Internet. If the safety of an application cannot be verified, DeepGuard starts to monitor its behavior. Based on the behavior analysis, DeepGuard will either allow or deny the network access or it asks the user whether to permit the access or not.
    • Browser manipulation detection. DeepGuard detects if malware is trying to manipulate user’s browser and prevents the attempt."

The GUI is disappointing. It is meant for Mainly basic issues. Advanced options aren't readily available. Most stuff is blue. I did find to be a little resource heavy in a VMWare v11.1 Workstation x86 w/ 2GB of RAM resource intensive. It was F-Secure SAFE. I used a trial.

It is very good. 2015 is very light and from a protection standpoint nothing is better.

Agree. Runs light here. Has a few more processes then some but not really a big deal. Been using for years and am very pleased with the protection. Not many bells and whistles but solid protection.

There is no banking protection in the antivirus version. I thought there would be.

I don't think banking protection is of much use in reality.
