On W7 32-bit I've been running BDAV-Free for around three weeks now without conflicts respective to MS Updates. Wish I had "solutions" to assist you with.
Curious to know if your problem persists and your resolution for future reference if I encounter the same. Thanks in advance! :thumb:

I have a number of reasons why I don't use Surfright products. At the top of the list is I feel their marketing practices are deceptive.

Also HMPA will not protect against man-in-the-middle-attacks which disqualifies it as safe banking solution.

    fyi:
Not only downloaded, but installed (1 month trial) few days ago. ;)
IE11 was ok but chrome browser won't open. Uninstalled at once, back to MBAE Premium.

Tomorrow arrived and so did Safeplay issues (per your warnings). So I uninstalled Safeplay, which was easy and clean. I then started to look into HMP Alert. Well as others have noted, downloading HMPA v3 gets you a free 30 day trial, after which you can either pay for it or allow it to continue on with very limited features. However, since HMPA v2 was (and still is) free and offers more protection than v3 (after 30 days) I decided to try and find the download, and I finally found HMPA v2 here. ~ Removed Link to Possible Malicious Site ~

It is now installed along with BDAV-Free and so far so good. Other than it's notification that it's surfing protection is enabled (just the first time my browser is opened), I have not noticed any adverts or slowdown opening webpages, etc. (it is working transparently)! :thumb:

Perhaps you have never been advised to only download software from verified "safe" download sites; which are few and far between these days? Preferably, only download software from the vendor's web site. Below is the alert I received from Eset upon trying to access the web site link you posted. If you have Malawarebytes Anti-Malware free ver. installed, I would advise you to run a scan with it.

Since no one else suggested Zemana Antilogger free, you can check it out here: http://www.zemana.com/product/antilogger-free/overview/ . Just install and run it; no configuration needed. I also have issues with this company but many Wilders members use it and love it. Numerous threads and postings on it in the Wilder's forums. It will protect you against keyloggers and man-in-the-browser attacks. This plus MBAE free and you should be pretty well covered for online banking.

If your technically inclined, you can check out Microsoft's EMET certificate pinning feature. This will protect you against man-in-the-middle attacks. Note: there are issues with this feature and again if your not technically inclined, I would stay away from it. There is also a thread for EMET in the Wilders forums.

BDAV-Free did not have a problem with my posted url, or with the resulting download. Furthermore, after reading your remarks I again went to that site, this time with HitmanPro Alert installed, and all was well (HMPA did not issue an alert). Finally, a separate full system scan by MBAM (after installing HPMA) came-up clean. So as far as I'm concerned the site I posted is not malicious and Eset is guilty of issuing a FP!

I tried it with BD free and MBAE, but Chrome kept crashing the first time I opened it. Any ideas?

Installed Keyscrambler instead and that seems OK.

Keyscrambler Free covers only browsers while Zemana does it for all apps/system.

Unfortunately in this case, I think not.

Last night, I had Zulu scan that download. Unlike other URL scanners that only validate the web site for malicious content, Zulu will actually analyze the download content, if applicable. To date, I have never seen it give a 100/100 malicious rating before. I wish you good luck on this one.

Interestingly, VirusTotal gave it a safe 1/67 rating. I suspect that a redirect is occurring on the website that VT didn't pick up on. However, its download files are a different issue:

Latest detected files that were downloaded from this IP address
Latest files that are detected by at least one antivirus solution and were downloaded by VirusTotal from the IP address provided.

And finally, HerdProtect confirms Zulu's analysis rating it 98% malicious:

MBAE won't protect against PUAs, PUPs, and the like. MBAM real-time will. I have multiple licenses for MBAM Pro but refuse to use the software after I found it constantly scanning my entire hard drive daily looking for bogus software and God knows what else.

    Interesting thread.

I've been wondering whether to add the BD free 60 second on-demand scanner. I've had previous mixed experience with BD AV Free, but it was more stable than the full BD products which I'd paid for. Main issue is the web filter as well as lack of transparency and control. Also used quite extensively MBAM and Webroot SA.

My newest security set up in a Win 7 PC is -

MSE. I know I'll get slated, but in my experience it works very well on known samples a few days old and is not too bad with behavioural detection. Having an AV designed by the OS manufacturer should have some advantage, in my opinion, especially for any cleanup.

HitmanPro 3.7, daily scan plus occasional on-demand individual file scans.

    HitmanPro Alert 3.0. Lovely software.

BD Safepay, seems to work well, no issues unlike some others here, apart from one day when there were connection problems.

Chromodo Browser with anti-malware, anti-phishing enabled.

Behind a route firewall and Windows 7 firewall I reckon that I've probably got all vectors covered without needing to also add BD 60 second scanner, especially since Safepay seems to run the equivalent of a 60 seconds scan whenever you start it up.

Appreciate any feedback or further insight and suggestions.

    @ cavehomme,

No slating, but I have found BDAV-free much more effective than MSE; then again ymmv. However, strange as it may seem, BD Safeplay doesn't want to 'play' with BDAV-free.

Sorry for not replying earlier, busy with too much work :(

Since my last post BD Safepay started hogging massive amounts of resources, even slowing down this 8Gb RAM PC and only a couple of months old. I could not track down the problem. Made sure all security software ignored every other one, but problems still continued. Eventually removed it. Perhaps it was overkill anyway and the other 3 security softwares are sufficient.

I understand what you are saying about BDAV-free, but after several weeks of using it before, same version as current one, I am reticent to install it again, mainly problems with slowing web browser.

bitdefender free is cloud-based, which leaves vulnerability when the internet connection is down.
this is what they wrote me:

Unfortunately we need to inform you that Free Edition needs constant internet connection to assure your device protection. As per your example, yes, if you connect an USB flash drive and you don't have internet connection you can get your PC infected.

We have taken in consideration your suggestion and we will address it to our development team in order to implement them in our future versions.

Well, the same could be said about many other products, some of which are not free. The Gonzales/Nimbus cloud services are important but largely for URL scanning and filling in the gaps between signature updates.

While the core scanner could suffer degraded zero-day detection depending on how long it was since the signatures were updated, B-Have and Active Virus Control are among the best in the business for non-signature detection. BD-Free includes a network IDS as well. And an anti-rootkit, but I don't know if that's signature dependent.

Not knowing what your "as per your example" and "your suggestion" entail as you didn't think they were important to describe, generally, if you don't know where a USB device (any USB device) has been, perhaps you shouldn't be jamming it into your PC at all.

Note also they said "can get your PC infected," not "will your PC infected."
