Nothing special with that computer. i3 processor and hard drives. I did put Win10 on a UFD which gives you a faster install than from a DVD.

My main computer has an i7 processor and SSDs. A Win10 install took 8 minutes.

This really sounds like music to my ears. Great decision to stop with this nonsense, it made IE unnecessary complex. I do wonder if other browser makers like Maxthon will be able to use the Edge engine. I have a feeling that the browsing engine will be great, especially combined with extensions. But I get the impression that the browser itself will still be quite basic.

But this is exactly what everyone hated about Win 8, we don't want to deal with this Metro interface crap! What is so difficult to understand about this for M$? And why aren't testers bringing this up?

It's called the LI approach. Listen and ignore.

Yeah, that's what I was going to say also. I'm sure many of the testers have mentioned it, but they just keep on with their one size fits all vision for all devices. It just doesn't work, but they don't care...

Can you give some specific examples of this in the current Windows Insider Preview (build 10047)? It seems to me that the main problem with the so called "Metro" apps was that they were initially full-screen only, but now they are being designed to work in resizable windows like win32 apps. The Metro apps I've seen in Windows 8 have not been very good, but that's a different matter and they should improve over time as more developers get onboard. The Start Menu in Build 10047 includes Metro "live tiles", but they can be removed. It is also possible to use other start menu replacements such as Classic Shell. Another issue is the move away from the Control Panel, but that seems like an annoyance, not a fatal flaw. Playing around with Windows 10 in a VM it doesn't seem very different from Windows 7, especially with Classic Shell installed.

Would be absolutely fantastic if they'd just put an option or switch somewhere in settings to just plain turn off ALL Metro related stuff completely. That would make millions of people happy, without hurting what they're trying to do too much, although I'd bet 80% of the users would turn the Metro stuff off if they could.

Well, non of this stuff is fatal, but it's annoying as hell. For example, in Win 8 you will get to see the Metro UI inside the desktop when you use the "open with" dialog and also when you want to select a network connection.

And then there's this "PC Settings" app that you have to use for certain things that are not found in the Control Panel. This all is just stupid. Just improve the desktop UI, and stop trying to push Metro, we don't want it, we don't need it.

All these articles that detail Windows 10's path, makes me that more excited for release.

Two things easier to bypass than a password. I hope they're not that stupid.

Will Microsoft incorporate the applocker feature into the consumer versions of Windows 10?
